I have this.

I love it because of the drawers and versastack system I can latch to additional storage.

HOWEVER, the ratchets they include...SUCK
Mine are always jamming up when using them. Harbor Freight composite ratchet is 10x better.
1/4" can fit in places that 3/8" can't. 1/2" can take more torque.

But I somewhat agree in that these sets often try too hard to be all encompassing.

Around Christmas time it's $99 if you don't need it now you can wait if not I'd say it's a good deal.

Yup good set for awhile, but 2 of my ratchets are getting stuck after 4-5 years of owning this.

You could exchange the ratchets under warranty, but that can be kind of a pain and the new ones may not be any better.

Otherwise, look up some YouTubes on rebuilding ratchets. It's not that hard. Or soak yours in oil or transmission fluid overnight to loosen them up.

I've never understood why these portable sets include 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch drive ratchets with so many overlapping socket sizes. Why not just make everything 3/8 and include more socket sizes?

I blew a craftsman ratchet apart (smaller set with a molded case) and they replaced it with a nicer one (same serial number though?). Only problem is that it doesn't fit in the slot because its larger but its definitely an upgrade so I guess i cant complain

That's true, but for a portable set it seems unnecessary. You'd probably need a breaker bar to surpass the torque limitations of 3/8, and they could always just include a small 3/8 ratchet for tighter spaces. The goal of a portable set should be lightweight and cover as many sizes as reasonably possible imo.

This is a good general set, can't really beat it in efficiency but I have found that building a set is more effective, so I have deep sockets, specialty bits on sockets, ratcheting wrenches, bolt biters, extensions etc and although this has cost me more $ I would do it this way if I had to start again, because I would spend about the same but have what I need vs have extra that i don't.

The husky set 270 pc I believe from Christmas at depot is down to 90$ in store if you can find it. Plenty of them around me currently!
