I've had one of these for around a year in my living room. It's pretty okay, definitely better than built-in TV speakers. AirPlay compatibility is nice, but I have to re-select HDMI input after using AirPlay when I go to watch TV. Sometimes getting audio to work when using an Apple TV while also wanting Dolby Atmos audio doesn't work and is infuriating, but that could also just be my TV or the Apple TV and not the sound bar.

Overall, decent sound for $99. I am no audiophile and the bass is definitely present with the separate sub, but this is also just a sound bar so don't get any illusions that this will be surround sound in any way. I'm thinking about getting another for my bedroom.

Any issues with sleep/wake during silent moments cutting off the start of the next sound?

Can't say I've experienced that or anything that prevents the beginning of any expected audio. The biggest issues I've noticed are having to manually switch from AirPlay to HDMI long after I've stopped streaming audio, and then other issues are Dolby Atmos related.

Edit: Oh and the initial connection to wifi was a nightmare. I can't remember how I got it to work, but it was impossible after at least an hour of troubleshooting.

Sound bars need to focus on being 3 channel, with a prominent center speaker. Having that Dolby Atmos upward firing speakers are just ridiculous and borderline useless.

2.0 and 2.1 sound bars are useless. Having a true center channel is becoming increasingly important to understand all of this mumbling stuff you are seeing in tv and streaming services.

Does this fit the bill for what you described? I have to watch everything with subtitles on and it sucks now!

I purchased this in March 2023. I had the close captioning on for everything because of my crappy sound that comes out of the TV. I read online not to allow the soundbar to update it's firmware.(just ensure that you don't connect the bar to your wifi network)
Besides that it's been a great value at $99.

So no Dolby effect noticeable?

A very hollow cheap sound. Barely has atmos. Not the first pick for living room maybe a bedroom.

It's such a hard decision to skip this item at this low a price.

I've had this for a few months and the sound is good, especially for the price. The problem I have with it is that it takes a second for any sounds to come out of the speakers. This causes you to miss the first couple of words said after a pause or commercial.

I picked up one a few weeks ago. Decent sound, a step up from the Yamaha sound bar (w/o sub) I purchased in 2020.

My main complaint is that there is too much bass when using the factory "music" "TV" and "movie" settings. Based on feedback I leave it on the "music" setting (even when watching a movie) and adjusted bass to 0 and treble to 2. It certainly helped.

Another annoying feature is that the LCD screen faces down towards the ground. I have the bar mounted on my wall, underneath the TV so this is obnoxious but not a deal breaker.

This sound bar suits my needs, especially at this price point. But if you're an audiophile you will probably be disappointed and should invest in something higher quality.
