Why do boy's bikes have a higher middle bar when they have a package to protect?
This from the days when ladies wouldn't wear pants and only wore skirts and dresses. The lower bar allowed the skirt/dress to fall a little lower and not blow with the wind. At least that's the story I got.

The higher tube design is a stronger frame due to the load distribution. They assume boys will be tougher on the bikes so they need to be sturdier.

That would make sense if the girls bike was cheaper to manufacture but they both should cost the same or the girl's version slightly higher to account for an extra bend. So why spend more to make a weaker bike.

Do not recommend. We got the 16" version about two years ago. Back tire wore through way too fast. Shifter broke. Yes, it's heavy. Meanwhile the older boy was still going strong on a Decathlon bike he got two years before that. Got two new decathlon 20" bikes on a deal here for <$100 a few months ago. Bad customer service maybe but the bikes (Decathlon) are worth twice the price easily, if you can find a deal on them they're a steal.

It is heavy. Pedal fell down when my son hit on a curb. But it locked back when we pressed it. It is ok for 78$

Got it. Thank you.

My 8yr has this bike and it works well for her. I paid about $120 1.5yrs ago. It's heavy (can't speak it's too much heavier than regular) but works for her..

I see. I guess I will order one and let my kid try. Thank you.

Not my size, but I like how high the handlebar is. Never understood why they'd make handlebars so low (except the road bikes) resulting in tension and subsequent pain in the wrists.

I get the aerodynamics and wind resistance, but as a boy who just wanted to ride in the neighborhood I didnt really cared abt maximum efficiency
.
Maybe it was just me who had long legs so I lifted the seat higher than the handlebar.

Ordered this bike twice, both times box and bike came damaged. FedEx sucks. Had to drag it back to store for return. Hope shipping in your area is better.

FedEx is bad everywhere.

The lower bar assumes girls wear a skirtโ€ฆ. And value fashion over strength, so unless you wear a kiltโ€ฆ

Been this price for a long time. Low quality bike.
VERY low quality.

Some assembly is required after they ship. Front brakes were rubbing. Back brake, even though it was fully assembled, rubbed terribly. I couldn't even get it to hit all the gears. Also, the front tire wouldn't air up as it had a hole somewhere.

I don't even think I would buy a perfect, fully assembled BCA at half price.

No it's due to women wearing dresses that's the only reason even though it's not in style anymore

I was also told it was dresses/skirts, but I was curious so I asked ChatGPT4 and yes to skirts and yes to strength..

" The design difference between "men's" and "women's" bicycles dates back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. During this period, women typically wore long skirts and dresses, and a bicycle with a high top tube - the bar that goes from the seat to the handlebars - was challenging to mount and dismount while maintaining modesty.

Therefore, a "step-through" design, where the top tube is slanted downward, was created for women's bicycles to accommodate their attire. This design is also known as an open frame or a low-step frame.

On the other hand, the horizontal top tube found on "men's" bicycles, also known as a diamond frame, provides more structural rigidity to the bicycle frame. This results in better performance and is typically preferred by more serious cyclists.

Today, the design difference is largely a matter of tradition, as women often wear pants or shorts that would not interfere with a high top tube. Furthermore, many cyclists, regardless of gender, find step-through frames easier to mount and dismount, especially in casual urban riding or for riders with limited mobility. The designations of "men's" and "women's" bicycles are becoming less relevant, and many manufacturers now focus on unisex designs with a range of sizes to fit different body types."
