1) Specs vs the Price is quite good. I was hoping to buy L5 Pro but I am happy with this laptop. I would certainly purchase the laptop again at this price if I could.
2) Can handle a large number of tasks without sweating.
3) Upgrade is easy. I bought the crucial 32gb for 81 dollars and P5 Plus for 55 dollars. The second NVME slot comes with a heatsink. I have seen transfer speeds of more than 1GBPS while moving files. I also ran benchmark --- though I do not remember the numbers.
4) Heavy but can charge via USBC if the load is less- need a USBC adaptor that outputs more than 100W though -- I use an insignia charger rated at 112 W. I believe the apple charger 140W should work. I tried searching for whether the USBC port is PD 3.1 that supports more than 100 W charging -- could not find any info. Also I do not know of a software that can tell me at what wattage is the laptop charging --- if anybody has suggestions, please let me know. This is basically to get rid of that brick charger which makes this laptop unportable. If there is a 240W USBC charger (although i am not aware of one), it will be perfect. However, with the 100W charger, you can do simple office work and the laptop will still charge. So 100W charger does make it portable -- at least in my opinion.
5) Thermal performance is quite good. Never exceeds 70-75 for both CPU and GPU while gaming. Occasionally, the laptop does become hot with minimal load if the laptop has not been switched off for quite some time. However, a restart fixes this. Also, I put the fan on max sometimes (the sound of the fans at max does not bother me much -- YMMV). I have been monitoring the temperature for 1.5 months. The temperature with usual workload (without GPU) stays around 30-35 degrees for CPU which is quite good --- I usually put the fan on max for about 10 minutes when I start using the laptop --- then the temperature stays at 30-35 degrees for CPU for continously 8-9 hours of work with multiple chrome tabs running pdfs and streaming and vscode.
6) What I don't like about the laptop are the sharp edges -- can be easily fixed by using cooling pad --- I have not used one.
7) The screen is a little bit dim but at 90% brightness, it is sufficient inside the room. I have not used it outside. I love the screen space for coding and working on documents.
8) The speakers suck -- however, you can download fxstudio app and play around with it --- this makes the speakers sound really good.
9) HP offers a no risk 3 year accidental warranty for around 3 years. If you don't use the warrant for 3 years then they refund you the money. This was one of the reasons I bought this laptop.
10) I did a fresh install and manage all drivers through intel app and MS update.
11) Ohhh... one more thing, I really like the keyboard. It is mechanical and has that beautiful clicking sound (not too loud and not too soft). Also per RGB key lighting is awesome. I have some keys that I have lighted that I use multiple times and the per RGB key lightning makes them stand out. I don't use a numpad and hence do not regret having one. I got used to the layout quickly and do not have any mistypes anymore.
12) SDcard reader is quite good.
Any other questions are welcome.
This has a more powerful processor.
Sure L5P is better in some aspects but again, it falls into a different category. Also, it's $100 more with the same specs.
