What games? They're a business who are trying to keep their customers.

Ppl on Slickdeals are the ones trying to buy their discounted phones so they can trade it in for $1000 on AT&T

They're not here to make you money, so they're just protecting themselves

Your iPhone 14 Pro hasn't been used for a year yet. Did you not know this? Maybe you're the problem. You're the one trying to play games.

CDMA is no longer a thing since the shutdown of the 3G networks.

That's good news

I have been limiting myself to Verizon unlocked phones, so I could use straighttalk-verizon network… but now, even ATT or T-Mobile unlocked would be allowed in verizon?

How's the service? My wife and I are currently with Visible but we're looking for new devices. Does anyone know if the iPhones would work with CDMA after being unlocked? I noticed the price only applies to a GSM network.
i can't comment on long term, but my mom used redpocket while we were traveling through arizona, nevada and new mexico. she had 5g (Att) where i had no service at all (US Mobile/Verizon). i am thinking of switching to redpocket as soon as my 1 year promo is over.

They all still have their own sets of frequencies allocated to them, so the phone would have to support them. Plus, last I knew Verizon was still being a control freak about which devices were allowed on their network. Don't know if that's still the case because I wrote off dealing with that kind of squeezing the customer for profit a LONG time ago, so haven't paid much attention to them.

Regardless, you should always try to understand which frequencies are supported both by your device and the carrier you intend to use. Don't just go by "band #" because there's no real rhyme nor reason to the numbering scheme. Check the actual frequencies - lower frequencies carry further and penetrate buildings better, but higher ones give faster data speeds. Know your needs will be met first before you jump into switching companies.

I'd combine this with churning a chase sapphire signup bonus for the ultimate deal. Assuming $30/mo phone plan cost either way.

Sign up for chase sapphire 80k points - 8.5k fee = statement credit of 71.5k points = $715ish
https://creditcards.chase.com/rew.../preferred

$99 iPhone SE 3
Collect $200 credit from visible & apply to Apple account balance
Trade the iPhone in to Apple in September (get trade in quote before iPhones are released)
Purchase unlocked 15 pro from Apple for $999 - 715 - 200 + 99 = $183 plus tax if applicable.

Or figure out which carrier is offering $ off and port to them. It's the same strategy as churning credit card referrals.

Really, knowing USB-C is likely coming makes it hard to get into something now. Switching from Android. So usb-c means all my current cables and chargers are good...

Paying 3 month is for you to get the rebate. You need to pay for 12 months to get it unlocked.

Nope, need 12 continuous months of service to get it unlocked. The question remains (at least I haven't seen a definitely answer and I asked the RP rep who commented in this thread above): does the initial 3-months + an annual pass get you unlocked in 12 months. Still hoping we find out soon.

I just completed the chat with an RP rep, and she said that the annual plan would count towards the unlock requirement after you complete the three individual monthly auto payments to fulfill the rebate requirement. One catch though that I read in the small print... the initial monthly payment that you pay for with the phone does not count towards the three autopay rebate requirement. So, you would need to pay for the initial payment during the phone purchase, three auto payments, and then transition to the annual plan. It's really a sixteen month commitment this way (initial + 3 auto pay + 12 month annual plan).

Thank you! I'll have to mull that over, 16-months is pretty long. (I'm looking for a phone for my 13yo.)

Don't assume. This has been asked every time when RP is running a promotion. But they never gave a clear, official answer. I remembered asking a rep, and I was told that the SIM has to be staying in the same phone for 12 months. I don't think you can activate an Ebay plan on your existing SIM.
Ofcourse you can activate an ebay plan on an existing locked redpocket phone. The sims are the same. You just put in the code on the website in your account and it is updated. The redpocket account works the same whether one is using a sim from the website or redpocket ebay store. You don't need to swap out a simcard if one gets a redpocket ebay plan later. You only change sim cards if you need to change carrier like from at&t to t-mobile. I would just type in the code in their website account. I know there are slight differences in the type of plans but I would just continue to use the sim that you got with the 3 months deal. Why mess around with an ebay annual plan when they sell annual plans on the website? I think some people are making the unlock policy more difficult than it is when it is clear as day what the requirements are. Just use the same sim for 12 consecutive months but I would recommend to use the plans from the redpocket website. I wouldn't swap redpocket sims. I have used both att and t-mobile redpocket sims and they both work great for me so little difference for me.

* I live in NY so redpocket att or redpocket t-mobile both work great for me.
