Yeah I checked seems it really is a hassle to transfer OEM licenses says it requires a call to MS. F that. I found a windows 10 pro for $29 so cheap enough to just buy a new license.
Can you recommend a case/power supply for this? Looking at all the extras that are needed is this really worth buying piecemeal? We can transfer over the drive and the video card. Not sure the memory is compatible but I guess you don't need more than 32GB? I assume the old Dell (what will be left) is near worthless?

yes you are much better off buying parts piecemeal just need to shop around for the best deals. You may be able to find a cheap compact ATX case for $50 ish and a decent gold rated 650W psu for about $100 or less.

He brings his system between houses can you suggest a portable case for him? If it had a handle or something like that. He just brings the CPU everything else is duplicated between houses.
