Pretty slow for a 4.0 drive. You sure this isn't a 3.0 drive?
Probably slapped new 4.0 stickers/certification on old 3.0 drives

Inadvertently making a cheap Ps5 compatible SSD.

There's not really a single game out there that requires/utilizes Gen4 speeds yet (quite the opposite in some titles where you have to wait for last Gen to load) and I doubt anyone would really notice the load time differences.

That being said I doubt this was their intention.
So for someone that just wants storage from a reputable OEM, just go with this over the SN770 or the Samsung 9xx ones?

PCIE gen is just max speeds. Doesn't mean anything really.

If that were true, then a fast Gen 3 drive (faster than this one) would work in a PS5 and this one wouldn't.

That is definitely not the case.

Gen 4 is a different protocol than Gen 3. That's why Gen 3 drives do not work in PS5 regardless of their speed.

Is there any point at all if laptop only capable of 3.0?

I know it can't utilize 4.0 but maybe some other reasons a newb wouldn't necessarily know about. Thanks
