Do these have the shortfall of where the management vlan/PVID can't be changed from vlan 1?

The product datasheet for this GS324TP lists 'Configurable management VLAN - Yes' so I think you can change this.

Nice offer, but a quick look at Honey says "not a deal". As recent as a month ago, it was normally $220 and March 7 it was $155. Just FYI:

Sometime during the 1st Qt this year, there was a reconciliation of consumer electronics price with inflation, after meat and eggs of course. So it's a different time now than a few months ago unless there is a clearance, unlikely you can compare apple to orange.

It's already bounced down to $249 since this morning. Nobody has purchased it at this price since Feb. Again, just using Honey's graphs.

Amazon warehouse has a few for $123. Picked one up; can always return it. Thanks, OP.

Thanks, had a 16 port on order, but for $123 it was a no brainer to jump on one. Will have to see how the 190w plays ou on this vs 230w on a 16 port

For the price I would expect command line (console/serial, ssh), which ironically would allow a switch to be managed smarter than Netgear's pathetic excuse of a GUI.

Alternative to consider: TP-Link TL-SG2428P on Amazon for $269.99 which is smart managed and also supports local/remote console.

24 T-Base Ethernet ports (PoE+ @ 250W) and 4 SFP slots

I picked up the Netgear GS316EP [amazon.com] for $160. Got a courtesy credit of $5 on top of that for some reason. I think because the delivery is running a few days late. Looked like a decent PoE switch with 16 ports and 180W total.

Is this switch beginner friendly? Coming from a fleet of unmanaged switches for home networking, with no professional IT experience, would a tech-savvy beginner be able to get this up and running in a day? I don't have a current need for poe, but do have 20+ ethernet in the house I want to wire up to a single switch.

I would say yes go for it. Ask chatgpt for commands if you can't figure out the syntax or there is no gui

What about getting enterprise grade hardware from Cisco, Juniper, Arista, etc instead of these. I mean unless you are going for 10g you can probably still even use 1Gbps switches from 15-20 years ago.

Yes it is, very much so. It has a web GUI so once you put it on your network it will get an IP address from your router. Just put that IP address in a web browser on a computer on your network and you'll be in the interface. It's real easy to set up from there. It doesn't require much configuration for your average home user. If you're like me I do create VLANs for different networks. My guest network I create a firewall rule on my router to block all traffic from that network to anything else inside my home. I don't trust my relatives lol

I tried to mark the post as expired, couldn't figure out how to do it so I reported it and told the ops to mark as expired.
