Overpriced - Yes. I bought my Embody on sale directly from Herman Miller for 1k with all the extras. This was in 2016, I get inflation but the new price is beyond inflation. The same chair I purchased in 2016 for $1050 is now $2020.

Over-hyped - I still don't think so. Due to life happening, at a young age I've always had lower back pain. Sitting down in an office chair never helped either. I researched Embody and decided to pull the trigger on it seven years ago. After adjusting I've never felt back pain sitting down, at least not in this chair. I used to work at an office and sat in multiple chairs depending which office/conference room I was visiting and every chair made my back eventually hurt. A lot of these chairs were very expensive as well. Plenty of online reviews comparing chairs, mostly all reviewers agree Embody chair is great.

I work from home now, and the only thing I would like to have on my Embody is a headrest. Luckily "Atlas Headrests" have made a headrest for it. I'm just waiting for mine to eventually ship.

Would I buy an Embody again? Yes. Would I wait for a bigger sale before buying one? Maybe

Herman Miller isn't the only bad guy here when it comes to over inflating cost, Steel Case has done the very same thing. The Haworth Fern does seem like an interesting option.

I'm going for it. Really wish I could compare the Embody/Gesture/Fern in person, but no such showroom exists near me. The refurbished Steelcase Gesture deal on the front page right now is intriguing, but I'm not particularly enthused about dealing with returns/warranty from a 3rd party refurbisher on a chair that costs almost as much as my mortgage.

At least this deal offers a relatively hassle-free 30-day return policy straight from the manufacturer, and the 12-year warranty should be irrefutable. If the Embody doesn't change my life, I'll send it back and try the Gesture/Fern next time.
Got my embody G for $1100ish out the door in November. Would never go back to another chair. I work in data and sit for long periods as well. Impeccable. People like to bitch about a $1300 price tag. You get 30 days to try it. You pay $.30/day for a warrantied chair for 12 years. You likely spend hours per day in this chair. Why not be comfortable? Why not have support? People who complain about this will spend $2500/month at Starbucks.

Even according to "your research" I don't see they've done anything to her? Maybe you should improve on your own research rather than worry about my research.

The chair is comfortable and stylish but I had to return mine because it was unbearably noisy. The slightest movements would cause mine to make a creaking sound. You can look up vides on YouTube that show how bad it can get. The sync material also got a bit warm for me but that's probably just my experience coming from a mesh chair. If you wear headphones or don't mind noises then this chair is 10/10 great.

I picked up a fully loaded Haworth Fern for a similar price and it has been amazing. Check it out if you're in the market for a high end chair.

I bought the Embody G a few years ago, and as similarly noted, the chair is great, just not necessarily worth the price. Would I buy again? Yes.

Very peculiar tact the CEO had to motivate the company. Someone at that level should know better. CEO compensation is an issue at most companies, but in the end of the day, very few can do a good job. Hopefully this one is held accountable. Who knows, maybe the board is strangely aligned with her messaging.

On another note, isn't getting a bonus based on performance? To me, a company that offers bonuses to staff when it is significantly off financial targets is akin to a participation trophy. It's generous if they do, but the company should have the right to pull them back.

Holy hell…just stop. I do not care about the CEO. Trying to wade through actual comments versus societal and political debate here is not what I want to do.

I have been using an embody for two years and love it. I can sit all day without back issues. I also have a standing desk but sometimes I just wanna sit.

I just ordered a second for my wife and she's using my old Office Depot work pro 9000. It's only one year older than my embody and is nowhere holding up as well. That was a 300 ish dollar chair.

Don't care for all this CEO BS, go support steel case or whatever you want.

Guys stop paying for this overpriced chair. If you want the best chair that offers super good lumbar support search for "Allseating You" or the "Allseating You Too". It's made in Canada and has a 12 year warranty. They don't have the referral links that Herman Miller offers to pay big publishers to say that their chair is the best.

overpriced/ over-hyped, had an Aeron and was not impressed at all the fabric was itchy, lumbar support mediocre, the marketing hype machine is akin to Dyson or Apple products but the lemmings will follow
My Embody is stupidly comfortable and easily the most supportive chair I've ever used. I've used a lot of high end chairs at work. HM isn't a hyped brand, it's a great brand. You're just one of the few odd sour apples. That's all.

Cancelled bonuses for staff this year and told them to stop crying and self-pitying and start thinking about the $26 million they can earn for the company. You couldn't make this stuff up even if you tried.

Oh, and she raked in about $3M in bonus the last fiscal year.
Ok not buying now.

Lol at this commentary. Embody is great, but it is all plastic and can be very noisy. I have to lube mine up somewhat regularly to help with noise, but it is still worth it to me.

It was so long ago that I don't think I do.

I've gone so far as forcing myself into opening new browser windows via implementing referral link blockers just to ensure SD gets nothing.

My gesture just showed up this week. It looks and performs flawlessly. I was on the fence about a refurb but this thing showed up packed to the 9's with fantastic instructions.

And the chair is 75 pounds! Solid as a rock.

Bought the HM Logitech embody month ago at $1450….no regrets. I have one in my office and now I have one at home for remote work and can confidently say the best chair I've owned…12 year warranty so if you divide the sale price by that $120 a year is not bad at all. The chair does a very good job not creating any pressure points making it comfortable to sit working all day.
