I have this exact unit and the older-gen 2504-20. Wanted this newer model because it is much shorter (fits in my small bag better for my part-time building engineer job). Only gripe with this newer model is that the clutch-setting ring (where you change the speed) is made of plastic, whereas the older one is a super hefty piece of metal. The older model also has soft-start - which is nice when you have to screw/unscrew screws because the slow-start ensures your screw bit is latched on the screw before it speeds up. This new model - the instant you press trigger, it is on full-speed (great if you have to drill lots of holes fast).

for screws don't use drill setting. use the numbered settings, like 8 or 10. had to unscrew some wood screws to open a crate last week. worked great.

I am very happy with gen 2. At least for me I like the slow start and sounds like I'd prefer the metal clutch.

Good tool, but not that great of a deal compared to other recent deals with it.

Just a few weeks ago I snagged the gen 3 impact + hammer drill set with 2AH + 4AH battery and charger for $160... and it'll probably be back before long.

Was that for the fuel ones?

Milwaukee makes multiple m12 fuel drill/drivers? I thought the only model they had was the m12 fuel HAMMER drill

I also have the 2504-20. It's a great drill. The electronic clutch is useless for me.
This has a mechanical clutch. Which should be an improvement.

This. Don't get this deal unless all you need is the drill and that's it. Yea the $160 deal might be expired now but it always comes back. I'd wait for the combo deal if you can.

I never use drill-settings for screws. On all speed settings on the new model, it starts up super fast with no soft-start.
