Starting May 3rd, Sam's Club has a new flyer of deals. Near the back of the flyer, they are showing $30 off the 40 lb bucket of Chlorine pucks. This year it's been selling for $200, so that should put the sale price at $170.
Sadly, $200 ($5/lb) is already better than what I've seen other stores selling pucks for this year, so getting it for $170, while still a terrible price, makes it a slick deal in the current market.
Pre-Covid, Sam's and Costco would sell this 40lb bucket for $90!
Too late for me since I had to buy a new bucket of pucks a month ago, but hopefully will help the rest of the Slickdeals pool owners.

Edit: It's open again. An amusing article saying prices should go back to normal levels now (yeah, right).

Where did you find room for doubt since you end up almost walking that doubt back before you were done typing?
Lots of good info in this thread about salt vs chlorine, right now we have an in-line chlorinator and I just pop two tablets in every ~10 days when I mow and adjust the dial accordingly it's fairly low maintenance so I don't see a huge savings there.
I am really interested in if folks notice any more pump/heater etc failures with salt it seems as I dig further into it there is some correlation to higher likelihood of component failures ( Our first pump lasted from 2002 - 2013 ( we bought the house in 2011 ), new one from 2013 and is still going strong ). The two people I know with salt tend to get a new pump ever ~5 years or so it seems, but that's a very small sample size and I built an enclosure to shade my pump where theirs sits out in the sun/rain etc which imho is hard on anything.

Lol until u have to replace the salt cell every 3-5 yrs!!
Wow I have never gotten 7 yrs from a salt cell. And rn they are like 800!
They just sent me a new one for free because it was leaking.
Yeah, basically I dial in the cya and alkalinity in at the beginning of the season and im good to go. I check chlorine and ph once a week and that's it. Before salt I was struggling to maintain a consistent chlorine level using only liquid chlorine. I fought algae constantly and now I never have to deal with it.
