I had ordered a blue and I received a black one. I will keep it, no point in returning it. I am unable to update to Windows 11. I went into Windows update section and downloaded all the patches for windows 10 and restarted my pc multiple times, now i see it says this pc might be allowed for windows 11 upgrade, all you need is to verify the system requirements. I have checked all the requirements and this pc meets it, but how do i actually start the upgrade process to windows 11?
Just receive a blue one today. Ordered Money morning. And it came with Windows 11 installed Oct 2021. I don't understand why some comes with Win 10 and some 11.

FYI. Some guy on Youtube claimed he was able to boot from NVME connected to the internal connector. Another guy showed there's a PCIe x 4 label near the connector in an earlier version -4. MIne's -10.

Got this two years ago, same specs. Battery had swollen when I left it plugged overnight. It no longer boots up. I don't know if it's still worth fixing or just trash it. Got mine for $350 so this is a good deal, just hope battery won't explode.
Had the same issue with one I bought 2 years ago. I got it fixed under warranty and now less than a year later it is swelling again. I was considering buying a battery and fixing myself.

Hi. Just received mine. Overall, not too bad. But I am worried that power connector is too thin and it's just a matter of time before it breaks...
I think I saw in the internet that this laptop CAN be charged using the USB-C port. Is that true?

I did try to charge it using the usb-c port, but there was no indication that the battery was getting charge. Or maybe my charger was not powerful enough?

Please let us know if you know more.

Thank you

so glad i didn't jump on this. the consensus is that "it seems good for the first month or so.. then that's when the issues start"

ofc it's going to seem 'solid' brand new out of the box.. gl to all purchasers !

Added this to a pile of laptops and wow this machine is well worth the price. First of all looks wise. No complaints at this price range. Secondly, this is going to be a solid machine. According to the specs, I have tested the storage speed and found it reasonably fast. The resolution of the screen is definitely low, but for daily work, it is sufficient enough, it has enough ports to work with multiple devices and a micro SD card slot is too good to be true. It took me 30 minutes to clean all the bloatwares and preinstalled programs and to update to the latest Windows 10. now I can see this is gonna serve me for a good 2 to 3 years.

Anybody on the fence to get a cheap laptop and want to try luck with it not so well-known brand I think you must get it

I tried it with my Samsung USB-C power brick (think from Galaxy Book Pro). 5V-20V, 3.25A. It works. Charged from 86% to 96% in about 21 minutes while I was streaming youtube. There's an option in the BIOS to enable fast charge too. Not sure if that will do anything, but I'm not gonna tried it. I don't think you have to worry about that thin power plug. If anything, it should be more robust than USB-C. imo.

This laptop gives off very little heat. CPU stress test in CPU-Z for about 10 minutes, CrystalDisk benchmark, and 10 minutes of 1080p youtube. Only the left and bottom side at and above the numeric keys felt very slightly warm. As I'm typing now, it's absolutely room temperature. It did felt much warmer, but not hot, last night after first power on while it's doing all the windows updates. At no times did the keycaps get hot though so typing while the chassis is warmer should be a no issue. My Samsung Galaxy Book Pro does the same.

Build quality is good. No flex to speak of. I think it can take more abuse than something like the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro. I once dropped my Dell XPS-15 (circa 2012) from 3-ft onto carpet and no damage. Not sure if this will do as well since XPS-15 is all aluminum and this is mostly plastic.

Everything else is fine. Keyboard better than Samsung Galaxy Book Pro. Probably even better than the XPS-15 (feels like it has more travel than the Dell). Trackpad is fine no issue with it what-so-ever.

Some complain battery swell up after plug in overnight. I did that and no problem. And others complain of screen coming apart. Happened to my Dell XPS-15 too after two years. Right edge comes slightly off resulting in dust getting inside between the glass and the LCD panel. Very annoying. Probably because I was storing it in a non aircon room and the summer heat did its thing. I think this may even do better than the Dell since the bezel width is at least 2x the size of the Dell.

It's way better than a Chromebook. Make sure you modify the power limit and graphics settings in bios (watch ETA Prime youtube vid) to double the performance. You can't beat this value for the cpu and 16gb (soldered) ram and 500gb m2 ssd. Free upgrade to Win11. Limited bloatware. Refurbished units pop up on walmart for ~$260 of the 14" model.

I bought the 15" model last October for $300 (has numeric keypad), works great. The webcam is poor quality. Speakers are okay. The screen is a decent ips (no issues with it falling out like some reported in previous deal threads). They keyboard is nothing special. A tad heavy but it uses metal/limited plastic so build quality is average. The battery only lasts ~3hrs unplugged w battery saver browsing web/watching youtube/movies.

It has older wifi 5 & bt 5. One thing I noticed though is my HDMI output can only do 4k at 30fps, not 60fps so not really watchable. 1080p HD looks fine hooking up to TV though. I'm not sure about the usb-c output resolution.

It has a hatch in the back to add a backup m2 ssd drive (Leven JM600 1tb $40 off amazon).
Following the instructions in the video caused that my laptop to be unresponsive. Had to reset the bios by opening up the back and unplugging the battery and then pressing the power button, and then putting the back on again. In the video, he sets the TDP to be 30 Watts. The maximum rated for the chip on this laptop is 28 watts. Perhaps he had a good chip that permitted a higher TDP.

Setting the power limit one to be 20 watts and setting the power limit 2 to be 27.5 W worked just fine for me.

BTW after increasing the power on mine it won't "boot". It turns on but the display stays blank. Can't access bios anymore either. Trying to figure out how reset bios without popping the battery now.

Not blaming anyone but myself, but a word of caution to everyone else.
That happened to me too. To reset the bios, just open up the back panel by undoing all the screws (pay close attention to which screws go where, as there are two longer screws in the back and the other screws are of slightly different length). You can gently pull off the back by pulling at each point until you hear the pop of the plastic connectors disconnecting. Then, gently disconnect the battery. Then, press the power button for 15 seconds (with the battery the power cord disconnected of course) then the BIOS will be reset.

I changed the settings to be 20,000 or 20 watts for power limit 1 and 27,500 or 27.5 Watts for power limit 2. The CPU is only rated to a TDP of 28 Watts.

Are Gateways still a crappy brand, or did they improve their quality after the acquisition?
I was wondering that too, Gateway has to cut corners somewhere, hope it's not reliability. You never know, people will trash a lot of brands and complain. I have an Acer going on 5yrs and the HP Omen going on 3yrs. 24/7 and no problems but they are HTPCs not road warriors

Win11 installation assistant https://www.microsoft.com/softwar.../windows11
I just did a fresh install of Windows 11 using a USB created with the above link. Yay, no more bloatware. Some tips
  1. This laptop seems to lack the F12 (on power up) to get into the boot menu so you need to go into the BIOS Boot page and disable the internal boot SSD so you can boot from the USB Drive
  2. The track pad does not work with the WIndows installer. You can either use a USB mouse or use the TAB key like I did. Press TAB to move between selections. Enter or Space Bar to "click" the selection.
  3. After booted into Windows, press WINDOW Key, type "windows update" and select "Check WIndows Updates" and afterwards, the trackpad will work
  4. I don't know if I'm imagining this, but speakers sound low with the default Windows install. They get louder after I installed the Audio driver from gatewayusa.com
