I love the printer but the toners are super expensive and there does not seem to be generics available. Anyone else have this and found good generic?
I have an MF644Cdw and Canon toner is stupidly expensive. But the 4 or 5 times I have tried various brands of aftermarket toner from Amazon have been disastrous. Bleeding on important papers, leaking into the tray, streaking, you name it. One was leaking in shipment so badly it ruined a rug when I opened the plastic.

I'm not sure what the solution is because it is nearly the same price to replace the printer as a full replacement set of Canon toner cartridges.
I've had 2 Canon MF743Cdw (older generation) have the ADF rollers fail after a few months. I had to replace the separation roller assembly ($70 each).

If you have people that jam the ADF (usually stapled papers) you'll end up having to replace that part because a plastic pin on the rod breaks. The other end of the rod is metal but the other end is plastic!

Not sure how their 3 year warranty works as I only fixed them after the 1 year was up. B&H doesn't mention warranty. Just Amazon mentions 3 year limited warranty.

Tonor 069 used by some 700 series are very pricey vs the 054 or 055 used by some 600 series imageclass (at least via Amazon listings). Might be as much as 7-10x because of generic options vs Canon branded.

Paid $180 for my Canon MF8280CW about 8+ years ago, still going strong on the original Canon toners... I'll hold on to the one I've got a bit longer until these units start coming down in price and also the until after market toners start being available at a reasonable price

How long does it take typically for after market toners to become available? Looks like this printer came out in march

This is the only set of generic cartridges I've been able to find for this printer. $199/set of 4.

https://ybtoner.com/canon-069-ton...es-4-pack/

High yield option also available for $299/set of 4. There seem to be some coupon options from the same company that may give you a better price. Can't comment on quality of these YB brand replacements, just that there is at least one generic option on the market now.

I think one of the reasons these particular Canon cartridges are more expensive, not just because this is a new model, is because Canon has built in the drum into the toner cartridge. Would imagine that once there are more options on the generic market, competition between the generic providers will drive those prices down.

I have a Canon MFC634Cdw. Purchased in 2019 for ~$170. The counter for copies/prints is now over 20,500 total. I have tried many of the available "compatible" toners on Amazon, I have never purchased OEM toners due to their asinine pricing. I can say for sure that all the "compatible" toners will fail in service, generally due to streaking or fading at ~40% to 50% left according to the information on the "Information about inserted cartridge" on the printer display. When they fail I buy a new set, and install it as soon as it arrives. I have had a couple fail almost immediately, and I sent them back ahead of the 30 day mark. I read somewhere online that the problem with the longevity of the compatibles is due to the toner powder being water based, rather than oil based.

I am looking for some sort of a printer possibly a monochrome laser or possibly an ink jet with tanks to refill rather than an OEM ink cartridge. Epson Ecotank printers or some Canon ink jets that also have tanks rather than ink cartridges but all appear to have problems with paper feeding straight through or some other failing, other than the obvious problems of water based ink copies being ruined/damaged by water.

I bought a couple of the Samsung AIO Color printers from Fry's back in the day, but HP purchased the printer business from Samsung, and that ended the compatible toners for the Samsungs. I put both of those printers in the Trash Can to prevent someone from getting those units, and buying oem toners, @ ~ 2X the original cost of the printer, or buying compatible toners that were garbage. OBTW HP has made my DO NOT BUY LIST!

I still have a functional Brother MFC-8660DN that I have not been able to get it to work with Windows 11...Anyone know where I can get a driver that will work for me?

There is a whole ton of things windows 11 doesn't support, especially when it comes to drivers for legacy hardware. If your trying to "print" you can usually get it to work by running a print server, whether it be hosted on your NAS or if its hosted on something like a raspberry pi. Im running a 15 year old hp this way.

Other options are actually forcing one of the newer MFC drivers on the computer, but printing to a LPR port driver. That sometimes works.

Jumped onto this deal for the MF753Cdw from Amazon. My Prime business account had a Amazon promo code for 25% off IT peripherals (capped at $100 discount). That brought this printer down to $349.99 before tax. At 1/2 off MSRP, it will make at least the first round of toner replacements justifiable if I have to buy genuine Canon ones.

Code is ABIT25 for qualifying Prime business accounts.
