I own this mower, and while i like most things about it, if you side discharge, this mower isn't for you. Instead of a traditional side discharge, it actually goes through the mulch plug area and makes a crazy tight corner to exit behind the right wheel.

If your lawn is at all long (and if you are using side discharge, it probably is), it will clog all the time. And on those rare occasions that it doesn't, it will leave rows of clumped up grass because of how little force the discharge has by the time it gets to the back of the mower.

This mower is great for mulching. If your grass is too long for that, then you will be bagging, because side discharge isn't going to happen.

I went to DG and bought Lowe's gift card @10% discount. So with sale and gift card came out $200 below regular price.
See this link for gift card info:

Let me just say that I got this exact mower last year at this time and it has been one of the best lawn equipment purchases I have ever made. Can easily get through my lawn (a little over 1/4 acre) with charge left over. The mower cuts through high or wet grass with ease. I don't bag, so I can't speak to how good the bag is but the mulching blade is very good. The battery lasts just as long this year as it did last year. It is so nice to not have to worry about running to the gas station to fill up a can or to ever have to worry about pulling a cord to start it. Couldn't be more pleased.

Bought last week from Ace Hardware. Ace has the sale today and credit me $100 so sale worked out. Didn't refund me the sales tax for the price difference though

I have a different experience. Mower is ok. I can't say it's better than my previous electric single blade one which was made by Snapper. Actually, I feel the snapper single blade did a better job than this dual blade select cut.

If you've never had a Lowes Credit Card, there's also a new cardholder 20% off ($100 max) promotion here:

https://www.lowes.com/l/Credit/ne...romo-tandc

Fair warning though: It is a call to cancel credit card.
A hard pull and new account are absolutely not worth a $100 discount. The bonus on either freedom card is $200 for $500 spend and even that isn't a great bonus. If you're buying this, chances are you have enough spend for a larger bonus.

Great mower! Good warranty as well, i do recommend getting the extended warranty through Lowes tho. Anything happens to the mower, they'll replace it no questions asked.

I got this mower last year. Like the other user indicated, if the grass is thicker or longer the machine will stop working immediately which is a little bit inconvenient (you will have to mow the lawn little by little) otherwise there's nothing can be complained. The 7.5 battery runs like 1 hour and I would recommend to have a 2nd battery just in case the size of your yard is bigger. The self propelled is also very useful and will save you lots of energy.

Did not like Ego mower because it left many flags. Took it back to Home Depot (2020). Called Ego C/S their only suggestion was to cut laps to half width AKA double mow the yard. NWJ (No Way Jose)!
Using the high lift blade seemed to work better for my yard. I do about a wheel width overlap.

I have had the original Ego self propelled mower for about 6 years, but I just bought the 80v Greenworks at Costco. I didn't really want to jump to a new battery ecosystem, but the 8 year battery warranty through Costco swayed me. The only issue I've ever had with the Ego has been batteries dying, so the crazy battery warranty is huge for me.

As far as the mower goes, I've been pleasantly surprised. I didn't think I'd like it as much as the Ego, but I think it's better (granted, I have an older Ego that isn't the one in this thread).

Greenworks Pros:
$100 cheaper
8 yr battery warranty through Costco
Seems to cut better even without high lift blade (no mohawks so far)
Button to permanently use full power
Metal deck with true side discharge

Cons:
No self propel without blade running (Egos can do this)
Doesn't fold up quite as small
2 batteries to charge instead of just 1
Self propel speed control is weird—most of the slider is way too slow, and it suddenly jumps to very fast near the end…very fine line on where it feels comfortable to me.

I just wish I had made the swap last year when the mower came with 2x 4.0ah batteries rather than 1x 4.0 and 1x 2.0. It's still enough to cover my yard, but it'd be nice to have a little extra cushion for days where I have to mow tall/wet grass. Also, if it matters to you, the Greenworks is the top battery mower on Consumer Reports right now.
Thanks for the thorough comparison, very helpful.
On your first 'con,' I don't think that's true. If you hold down the self-propel lever (with mower off) and then press the power button, you get self-propel without the blade spinning.
I also kind of like having two batteries — you can use one while charging the other. And my lawn takes about 45 minutes to mow which doesn't even take me through one battery (can usually even mow twice on one battery), so it's not like I need to charge both batteries after every mow.

You can absolutely self propel without the blade running. You just squeeze the gray lever while not squeezing the green. I do this all the time.

Anyone know of a good deal on one without battery/charger? I have plenty of batteries from a snow blower deal I got a few months back
There's a 2150 for $500 tool only. Thinking of getting that one

My experience with my ego mower.....

Great deal, though surprised a 3 year old mower is still so pricey! I just got the LM2125SP on 3/20 so outside of the return window at lowes. It is more than enough power for my small yard (6ft-lb of torque compared to this select cut mower's "up to 7ft-lb?) in CA, but I miss the suction and "vacuuming" effect of my old Honda that made the lawn look so clean. Not to mention the Honda has a variable drive assist with a trigger whereas this ego is just on/off - feels awkward at times - too fast or too slow haha. Also the Honda has a lever to change from bag to mulch, whereas this ego has a clunky plastic plug. Love the lights and how quiet it is. Also if you already have other ego tools and need a fast charger and 7ah battery these deals are perfect.

It seems like a lot of folks are excited about going electric, but getting a wakeup call on when it comes to performance and really praying for the high lift blade to save them.

Heads up for those of you in Los Angeles trying to switch from gas, get up to 250$ rebate: https://www.aqmd.gov/home/program...te-program
