This post is the prime example of catfishing and I'm flabbergasted as to how it even managed to get so many thumbs up.
This is not a "slick" deal at all. Just coz it has 3070 in its name at $999 doesn't mean it's a steal.
The RTX 3070 is severely underpowered at a TDP of 105W. The display is garbage with 250-nits and 45% NTSC.
A full wattage 3060 can outperform this in a lot of games. Only thing going for this ASUS is the 8GB VRAM.

Not to mention it price matches a FP deal from literally 5 months ago. At that time it might have been a good enough deal but right now it should've been maybe $100 lesser for it to be considered a good enough deal.

Heck, for just $100 more (if you don't mind the bigger size) you can get the Microcenter Omen deal with full wattage RTX 3070 Ti which literally puts this machine and deal to shame.

How are the batteries on the these TUF laptops? I wanted to get one for gaming and for productivity such as writing and coding but don't feel like being tethered to a power brick all the time if possible.

I was looking at the Zephryus line too.

**Edit**

Looking at Jarrods tech site, looks like the TUF Dash F15 (with i7 11370H) was getting almost 8 hours on his youtube playback test so normal productivity shouldn't be too bad on these power wise.

Excellent battery life on most of ASUS' new laptops including TUF and Zephyrus series, although I would avoid this model due to the low-quality display and instead opt for the 2023 A16, which is $1100 at Best Buy.

It is a good deal, but I'd recommend the 2023 A16 ($100 more) as the A15 has a very poor quality display.

Would you consider this a better system? It goes on sale for $1000 every now and then

An RTX 3060 (130W) is a very capable mid-ranger that can beat an RTX 3070 (85W) in some games. However, keep in mind that the 3060 dissipates more heat, consumes more power, and it requires a significant cooling solution.
The RTX 3070 (85W) has its own place in the market – it is suited for thin laptops that combine good gaming capabilities and portability at the same time. That's the main advantage of this GPU.

What is the TDP on that Omen laptop. I tried to see on microcenter website but could not find.
