Debating between FE and A54. FE has better processor but A54 is newer, with better battery....
Currently using A71 5g since 2021, worth upgrading?

I have the A53 currently. While most of the UI looks the same, software optimization is very different and noticeably worse in the A series phone. In addition to missing the flagship features (RAW photos, DeX, Wireless projection, light performance mode), the animation is made jittery in software. The camera also does not produce as nice pictures, despite having good hardware on paper. Samsung makes the higher end A series worse to differentiate their phone tiers.

A54 does have slightly better hardware. But the software downgrade remains.

So for people who are thinking A54 is mostly the same thing. It isn't. If you just want to save money ($30 if they don't waive activation fees) it is fine, but do not expect the same experience as S21FE.

There are other manufacturers' mid-tier phones that don't struggle although having similar mid-range hardware.

A54 has dual sim, esim and physical sim. S21 I googled and like like same dual sim,
Depends on market. No recent phone from Samsung, Apple, Google are dual physical SIM in the US. Samsung and Apple does have Dual physical SIM versions in oversea markets.

The S21FE in particular does not have dual physical SIM or eSIM in the US. I'm not sure about the A54. The A53 did not have dual physical SIM or eSIM in the US, but I would not be surprised it to be added this year because iPhone SE had it since forever. But the key is to check reviews for US variants only.

I had an A54 US unlocked model from Samsung.com, it has 1 physical sim and 1 eSIM, running dual sim no problem.
But not sure about the carrier version, they usually block the dual sim function to save cost?
US modal blocked the SD card slot for 2nd SIM, so only can use it as SD card. I wonder why the rest of the world get dual physical sim and US only got 1 physical sim. Same as S series, over seas modal all have dual physicals sims but US modal has to use eSIM for dual sim setup.
Samsung's dual sim settings menu on US variant is weird too compare to oversea markets, can't choose individual sim for text/call/data, only primary and secondary.

no add to cart button SO I guess dead
I'm seeing that not just on this phone but on all of the few I checked, tried in Firefox and Edge.

EDIT: Update to add that I checked a few more phones and did find a couple that showed the Add to Cart button. I guess they just happen to have quite a few out of stock online now.

Market demand and carrier control. Having multiple cellular plans is very common where carrier competition is high and frequently changing phones/SIM cards is common overseas (sometimes due to traveling). The market expects it, so the phone makers comply. The Chinese variant of iPhone 14 has 2 physical SIMs, because Apple had to. In the US iPhone 14 there is 0 physical SIM slot.

The carriers definitely also disable dual SIM functionality on locked phones to prevent you from using their subsidized phones with other carriers. Metro and Cricket especially. Dual SIM promotes using services from other carriers.

Yes, but you have to go into the metro app to swap the device, I believe. The carrier lock is locked to Metro so if you are using it on Metro it will not block you.

I don't see an option to "Add to Cart", it shows me "Find a store" instead.
I came back later and tried, order went through...
