Don't look at someone's phone and judge them if they are rich or poor. There are rich people with old cheap phones and there are definitely "poor" people who paid +$1k on phones and paying high monthly plans that they really shouldn't be.

Ummm. You do realize that the phone works during the first months with calls, texts and data? Some people would be happy to use unlimited data in that first month. All those apps, games, camera, etc. work with or without service. Lot of people use multiple phones. I do. Lot of people have lots of wifi outside their home especially with some cable service they may use.

* I have a Pixel 6a and I do like it but it has its cons. The battery life isn't that good and the screen is little bit too small at 6.1" for my liking for browsing chrome/youtube so I prefer to use my other larger screen phones with the big battery at home or my Samsung tablet at home when browsing chrome or YouTube. For me to use my Pixel 6a for browsing chrome/YouTube is wasting battery on a phone that already doesn't have solid battery life and just not that good of experience on 6.1" screen vs my larger screen phones. Answer? Large screen phone with solid battery or tablet.

* 6 months goes by quicker than you think. People aren't like upgrading their phones after every 2 months and it is "so needed" to upgraded from their phone. Patience is a virtue especially for Slickdealers who know a good bang for the buck phone deal or knows money saving tips on deals.

for those new to M deals.

suggest

read wiki

lots of good info

trust me

here is sample:

To have the phone unlock automatically in 180 days (6 months)

You need to have activated the phone 180 days ago.
You do not. repeat do NOT have to pay for service 180 days

the above has been true for most every metro deal in the past.
both apple and android

Most people get the 1 month service.
Then simply place phone in a drawer .
wait 6 months.

The sim can be left in phone or stored safely.
It does not matter, as long as you DO NOT THROW AWAY THE SIM until you get a confirmed unlock

Phone should/will unlock in ~180 days + 6 -10 days.

best chance of success as follows:
During the ~6 month wait.
YOU can use as wifi device.
keep sim in phone.
when getting near the 180 day , have phone connected to wi-fi.
Try to unlock the device, once 1-2 days from day 180 onwards.

- None of us knows when Metro is going to close this unofficial loophole, .
-However this has been in effect with Metro phone deals for last ~4-5 years

Exercise your own judgement,

Do you have Battery Saver turned on? I cleaned my A54 and put it away, so don't want to mess with it and get fingerprints on the screen. But with my A51, when toggling Batery Saver on/off I could see a slight change in the screen brightness (less bright with Battery Saver on).
Ty, Will check when i get back home. In another thread, a user said its just an intentional samsung thing that they cap the brightness on manual to be lower than youd expect

its possible battery saver might have gotten toggled on

I don't know if the A54 has it, but the S22 has an "Extra Brightness" setting. If you slide the brightness scale max to the right, then turn on Extra Brightness, it gets REALLY bright. Big Grin

no matter what phone I have. The brightness setting is around 50%. I dont think I can or want to look at it at 100%.

With my other phones from LG and Moto which have LCD screens, I usually set the brightness at 70%. With the Samsung phones I have (A51, A54, S22, S23) and their AMOLED screen, a setting a little less than 50% (as seen in the attachment in my previous post) is bright enough for me.

My Moto Stylus 5G not unlocked after 6 months with 1 month of active service. Just want to let you know.

Edit: It's been 5 months only. I will update after 1 month.
Any update? Did it unlock?

Quick Question... to get the phone to UNLOCK in 6 months, do you just turn it off and put it in a drawer like others have said way back in this thread? My 1 month is over and I just want to make sure what EXACTLY can I do with the phone? Can I just shut it off? then how do I get the unlock code sent to me in 6 months? do I have to do something specific in 6 months to get the phone to unlock? Id someone can give me specific details It would be greatly appreciated! Also, I have a ton of devices that can be used for wi-fi so I have no need to use this phone as a wifi device at all. Thanks!

After the 1st month service has expired, turn off the phone and stash it away.

General unlocking info for Metro phones is here: https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy
Specifically for the A54, it looks like:
1. After 180 days, connect it to Wifi.
2. Go to Settings-->(Network?)-->Network Unlock-->Permanent Unlock.

All of us did NEW Number because porting is done in store (don't got to store...scammer all over).

Don't go to the store to port your existing number. Get a new one from the website and once activated ask metro customer service to port the existing number into new metro account.

wow, what fun game said above. Would just modify it to say that most people do it with a new number. Rarely do you port a number and if you do kindly know what you're getting into when you go to the store

Here's the background from a review:

"The brightness has improved considerably compared to last year's Galaxy A53. With a pure white display and the ambient light sensor activated, the A54's panel achieved an average of 935 cd/m² and is illuminated very evenly. With an even split of light and dark areas (APL18), we were able to measure a peak brightness of 1390 cd/m². Set to manual, up to 433 cd/m² is possible."

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Sam...600.0.html

Below is for the S22U

"In terms of brightness, the Samsung smartphone makes a powerful effort, achieving up to 1,111 cd/m² with the display of a full white area with an activated brightness sensor. This makes it the brightest smartphone display in our database. With an even distribution of dark and light areas on the panel, the maximum brightness increases to 1,665 cd/m² (APL50) and 1,788 cd/m² (APL18).

Those who don't want to leave the brightness adjustment up to the sensor will get up to 442 cd/m²."
