Stick with stainless steel or aluminum nails if you're going with cedar and you'll have a product that'll look great for years to come. Whatevers cheap (pine or douglas fir pickets) + galvanized nails if you want it to look cheap and falling apart in 5-8 years. Good luck with your fence project. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, I have built hundreds of fences all over the PNW.
Back on topic: 18g nails are quite small in diameter. This is a really good nailer for holding baseboard into place w/ 2" brads or holding trim pieces onto something structural. This is a really good nailer for the price! I use it to nail in baseboard if there's a lot of furniture or stuff I don't want to move around.
