$1,500 seems a bit much when you can get a miniPC for under $300 with nearly identical performance and can natively do 4k@120hz without buying more adapters to get it to work. I know this is Apple and the fanboys will hate on this, but $1,200 more (5x) come on...
If you think a $300 computer can match the performance, you're just high and lost all credibility.

This has more RAM, built in gigabit, +2 x TB3 ports. I do like the updated bluetooth blue the price of a similarly specced M2 Pro is much higher.

Wish I had waited. The only thing I really regret was 16GB of RAM. I need so much more. Docker itself takes 8GB!
TB4 ports, the mini m1 is tb3.

I think a M2 pro mini is a much better deal….
was just gonna say that. Went on Mac Rumors and the m2 pro scores were neck in neck with m1 max, sometimes even faster.

I'm gonna see if there will be an M2 Max soon as I already have an m1 Pro laptop

That's not accurate at all. Samsung is about 5 years, Google is 4. And Windows 10 is supported until 2025 (10 years). Yes, Apple support is long, but don't give false info.
Samsung is 4 years of major Android updates and 5 years of security updates.
Google Pixel is 3 years of major and 5 years of security.

This might be because MacOS does not support antialiasing out of the box. I ran into this issue when switching from a PC to Mac using the same monitor it just looked blurry and there was no way to fix it that I could figure out. Mac OS needs a higher resolution monitor to overcome the lack of antialiasing. I ended up switching to two LG Ultrafine monitors and this made a huge difference (LG 27UK650-W 27)

Here's more on this

Thanks for this. I love my 42" OLED so I'm picking it over the Mac Mini.

I run two of these.

One for music and one for video. Smooth as butter.

Best computer purchases ever. The expense comes when you need a TB3 hub and fast external drives, but hurray for never having to open up a computer again.
Hey there, was curious if you're running the audio machine with Logic or PT or something else? Which interface are you using, and have you seen any hiccups at all? My old Mac Pro has been updated but I'm getting the itch. If you can drop some knowledge on the video setup/workflow too, that'd be super appreciated.

We did get my wife a new MBP, so I hear you on the hub and external drives, just curious what you're using these for and if you foresee any need to upgrade anytime soon! Thanks a bunch ahead of time!m

edit: also was only asking about your interface to see if it's DSP/UA and how this handles loads of plugins if you're using them, thanks again.

Where can you find an under-$300 mini pc with 32GB ram and a less-than-2-years-old CPU?

Wondering if this machine effectively support a 3-monitor setup with 4K resolution at 60hz for Thingorswim?
If you're successful with thinkorswim, then go with this $1500 Apple thing.
Or if you want to save about $900, you can try with a made-in-china "mini pc 32GB triple display" on Amazon. It can drive only 3 4k@60Hz displays. Amazon gives you only 30 days to try while Costco gives you 90 days.

I said if you need one right now go for it! But if you can wait for next generation, it better to wait for it.

I'll pull the trigger, if it $1200 or less.

512gb of storage is a weak configuration nowadays. Even Mobile computing starts at 128 or 256gb. It would be nice to have every desktop setup start at 1TB given storage has gotten more affordable.
I would rather say it's an ideal storage. The higher storage you keep on your laptop or phone, more proportionate junk you create being lazy to delete duplicate or unwanted data, that replicates multiple times on backup disks and added time to restore. Ultimately it keeps on increasing demand for higher and higher backup storage needs. With 1 TB Internal storage, you would need at least 6-8 TB Backup Disk

Lesser internal storage will keep you motivated to delete junk/duplicate data regularly.
