Have a galaxy 4 watch w/cellular for our oldest and the thing has been fine but almost unusable functionally for like texting and calls. Mostly wanted it for tracking and calling while shes running around the neighborhood. Would this function better? Texts/calls easier? Tracking via find my iphone would be better i bet than samsungs.

This is not a good deal. Apple watch se uses s5 Soc same as apple watch 5. Apple may soon end support for SE if you care about watchos update. There were deals for $149 previously on non- nike versions (basically same except nike wrist band).

Link? I think $149 was for just the GPS version. This has a cellular radio in it.
