Some are worse some are better, you can look into the TBW ratings. But nvme usually lasts longer. If you want even longer storage, look into m-disc which is supposed to last hundreds of years.

Your best bet is to just have multiple backups and replace any drives that fail

Just getting reamed a bit less. Profits on flash are still astronomical. There is a real glut of this stuff after the pandemic and the massive supply chain restocking. I'm hearing maybe 20% price cuts to come yet this year before it starts to swing the other way. Definitely a great time to be in the market - although the stubborn price of the 4 and 8TB NVME needs to drop too.

Don't se SSDs for long term storage unless they are going to be plugged in all the time. Non-powered SSDs lose charge in the cells over time and your data will disappear.

You're right. If people are buying a <$100 PCIe3 SSD, they should opt for the Intel 670p at $80 rather than the Crucial P3 at $89.

That having been said, Tom's review [pcmag.com] directly compares these drives and finds that the Crucial P3 comes out ahead in most of the synthetic tests. They end the review by saying that they favor it over the 670p, but mostly because it was dramatically cheaper at launch. For us today, the really small advantages that the P3 might offer in synthetic benchmarks isn't worth paying 10% more.
