5700X $191.99
MSI B550-A PRO $139.99

Total $331.99 only saving $17 in this bundle but cheaper B550 motherboards for around $100 would make it under $300 if bought separate.

for similar price can get AM5 bundle Ryzen 7600 + MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI $314.98

How is this 7600 not a better deal than the posted 5700x? Single core and multi core are better, and you can use DDR5.

Seems like a win-win.

Been thinking about upgrading the wife's (decade+?) old Phenom II system (that is still working fine, shockingly). I guess I'd just need to find 16gb of RAM.

Suggestions?

7600 beats 5700x even with 2 less cores in benchmarks and gaming. Not many options for 16GB DDR5 6000 kit $70 range almost much as 32GB 6000 Kits unless get base 16GB 4800 kit for $40

32GB RGB 6000 Kit $87 [newegg.com]

Shouldn't the 7600 also come with a cooler? I'm not seeing it.

Yeah tempted on that 7600 package, but it's not a tremendous enough deal to jump... but the 3080 I have is kind of getting held back by my ancient 4690k I have so might be worth the splurge

Those do seem like great deals... Although that MB that is paired with the 7700, woof. To each their own but that may well be the ugliest MB I've ever seen, no glass needed on that case!

Not really. That deal is $349, the ram kit is worth at least $35 so it's pretty much the same money for a better mobo and a faster CPU. You definitely can max a 3080 or less at some resolutions/refresh rates and for non-gaming use/emulation you can definitely see the difference.

I was going to drive up to Microcenter for the 12700k deal since I will be in the area for something else - around 30 miles away.

Should get this instead and save me the trouble? I was going to pass my Ryzen 7 3700x B450 mobo to my kid and pick the Intel instead. The horror stories i have read with AM5 kinda scares me away from their AM5 deals.

LiveMixer motherboard is ugly but has like 10+ USB ports which is insane.

If you are referring to the Microcenter 7700x deal, that is much better IMO. You get ram and higher performance processing power (on the AM5 platform) for $135. Considering the ram alone is $80-$100 for 32g DDR4-DDR5, you are getting the upgrade to the 7700x for $55-$35. A no brainer.

The 7900x microcenter bundle is the only other I see that makes $$ sense.

For any interested, the 5600 and 5700x go on sale tomorrow at Newegg. Just in case you wanted to wait, pick one up at a small discount over the current price, and bundle with your own mobo.

Is this deal + another 32G RAM deal better than i7-12700k + MB Z690 Aorus +16G RAM ?
I would stick with that Intel deal. Although this is not a bad deal either. I also prefer Asus and Gigabyte motherboards over MSI.

The biggest problems I usually have is finding decently priced quality motherboard. I will skip this deal though. No need for 5700x as I already have a i9-11900k. I'm a few years from upgrading again.

One of the coolest looking motherboards (product review) [amazon.com]

To each their own, but I am not a huge fan either....then again, my case is under my desk and I only wish the cheap @$$ case fans I purchased didn't come with red LEDs to make the whole thing even LESS visible to me or others...so perhaps I have zero taste as is Smilie

I know microcenter stuff is regional but a 12700K, Z690 motherboard and 16gb of ram for $315……not even close imo.

And that's the thing it largely is regional, so people bringing up "great advice" telling others it's so much cheaper at Microcenter is just falling of deaf ears. You can get steak dinners in Texas for a lot cheaper than elsewhere in the country too, doesn't mean I'm going to go out of my way to save a few bucks for a steak.
