Purchased this TV around Super Bowl and I'm very very happy with the purchase. I have an OLED 77" as well and although OLED has a superior picture, the pure size of this TV makes the viewing experience incomparable. Watching NBA playoffs on this has been amazing and streaming 4K movies is wonderful.

Not a bad price but I don't think this TV is large enough for my theater room.

I can imagine some situations where a decent quality giant TV is desirable, but a projector seems like it solves most of the problems this TV is trying to solve for a much lower price. You're paying maybe 3X over a comparable 85" TV to get a TV that has 1/3 more area. The projector isn't going to work well in every space, but it'll work well in most of the spaces a TV like this is going into.

Lol I do love my short throw but this thing is horrible specs wise hdmi 2.0 terrible video processor
Not so. Hdmi 2.1. No 8k. But does do 4k 120 according to TCL in the Q&A on the listing. I've been eyeing this. Great price. I have an Epson 5050 projector. This will outperform it. Projectors can't get bright enough for HDR, and unless you're in a light controlled room that is pitch black, the tv will have much better contrast and black levels.

Don't be surprised if this TV sold by Amazon is a "sold as new". I don't believe these are brand new straight from the manufacturer.

Finally, a deal for an 8-foot TV that's not a gazillion dollars.

This is why I'll always support TCL. Just when everyone else gets comfortable sitting on their high priced laurels, they come in and break the mold. Still rocking a R617 in a bedroom with zero regrets or desire to upgrade.

Fully agree. I have the same R617 in my room and will never upgrade until something goes wrong with it!

Amazing deal. This TV will look way better than a projector in the same price range (thought experiment: the 'black' on a projector is the white screen you are projecting onto - the contrast of a projector will always be limited unless you have a pitch black room). A TV will also be a better experience overall: quieter, faster to turn on, ability to use in a lit room, no brightness loss over the life of the bulb, etc. TCL makes decent TVs.

The real question to ask regarding TV vs projector is whether you need a much larger screen. I have a 110" screen+projector and will be switching over to a ~100 inch TV in the next year or two because my room doesn't need a huge screen. If I had a 120+ inch screen I would stick with that over a 100" TV.

Absolutely smoking deal. I got this several weeks ago at $4800 all-in and thought that was a great deal.

Unless you want a screen larger than 100", there's no reason at all to go UST anymore. The top USTs in the game right now - Epson LS800, AWOL 3500, Formovie T1 - are all $3k or more, without a screen. After screen, you're paying the same as this TV and still nowhere close on image quality, contrast, brightness, color volume, black levels.

Still have to align the damn screen and hope no one bumps it once it's square and plumb.

Still have to deal with the fan noise.

Still have to deal with UST sorry ass input lag times.

Sorry for the rant, but I've been there, done that. Owned 3 USTs in the last 5 years. They were a good stopgap while I waited for these 100" TVs to drop in price.
