If I ever win the lottery, I won't tell anybody. But there will be signs.

Purchased this TV around Super Bowl and I'm very very happy with the purchase. I have an OLED 77" as well and although OLED has a superior picture, the pure size of this TV makes the viewing experience incomparable. Watching NBA playoffs on this has been amazing and streaming 4K movies is wonderful.

Shipping a 98 inch tv seems like a real PITA

Absolutely smoking deal. I got this several weeks ago at $4800 all-in and thought that was a great deal.

Unless you want a screen larger than 100", there's no reason at all to go UST anymore. The top USTs in the game right now - Epson LS800, AWOL 3500, Formovie T1 - are all $3k or more, without a screen. After screen, you're paying the same as this TV and still nowhere close on image quality, contrast, brightness, color volume, black levels.

Still have to align the damn screen and hope no one bumps it once it's square and plumb.

Still have to deal with the fan noise.

Still have to deal with UST sorry ass input lag times.

Sorry for the rant, but I've been there, done that. Owned 3 USTs in the last 5 years. They were a good stopgap while I waited for these 100" TVs to drop in price.

In the same boat. Have a 106" screen with a non ust projector. Don't have to worry about someone bumping it, but it can't compete with a tv. The next version of their 98" tv will have more dimming zones. It was announced at CES and is coming out this year. Will wait for that. BTW, this uses the same panel as Samsung's 98"..

I still think qn90b 85" is a better choice for most people... Note 98" tv is 33% larger in terms of viewing area than an 85" tv.

Ah yes, the QM8. I have a feeling it will MSRP at $10k or more. Someone on AVS Forum already has it. It looks quite the beast.

Fully agree. I have the same R617 in my room and will never upgrade until something goes wrong with it!
I still have my tcl 75" r615 from 2018 no problems no regrets.

You could always move closer to the 77" to have the same field of vision as the 98", with better PQ to boot 😄

Not so. Hdmi 2.1. No 8k. But does do 4k 120 according to TCL in the Q&A on the listing. I've been eyeing this. Great price. I have an Epson 5050 projector. This will outperform it. Projectors can't get bright enough for HDR, and unless you're in a light controlled room that is pitch black, the tv will have much better contrast and black levels.
If it's just HDMI 2.0

It can do 4k OR 120hz but not both at the same time.

I have a HDMI 2.0 4k tv that can do 120hz but it does it at a lower resolution because of bandwidth limitations of 2.0

No Dolby vision?

The TV I most want is the 100" Hisense flat panel you can only get in China

Right but, it cannot do 4K @ 120hz. Any new TV I would tell people to make sure it has at least HDMI 2.1

What is the point of a TV this big if you can't take fully advantage of the modern technology?

COMPLETE deal killer for me. Wait till next years model...
