Weird…
Why? It seems like a good set for automotive work to me.
Totally agree. This is an odd set.

They are probably banking on getting mechanics into both their 12v/20v line at once. I don't know why DeWalt doesn't just kill the 12v line already, no-one with more than one brain cell is going to pick 12v dewalt over the M12 line. Dewalt has shown very little interest in getting the 12v line even close to M12's technology and sheer amount of tools. This is coming from someone who is 90% dewalt.

Please tell me why the M12 is better than DeWalt 12v. I hate drills with no base to stand the drill up.

I bought into the DeWalt 12v Max line shortly after it first came out thinking they would expand it. Instead, they basically abandoned it while Milwaukee went ham with their M12 line, which is a shame because the few 12v Max tools I have are awesome. I bought the 3/8 impact in November 2012 and the drill, impact driver, and reciprocating saw in October 2013 and have been waiting for them to die so I have an excuse to switch to something else, but everything, including all four batteries, still work like new.

Agree completely, I really do love the dewalt 12v tools. I have some m12 tools as well but I grab the dewalts more.

I hate it when a drill gets knocked over and breaks the bit, so I lay them down irregardless of what battery style it is.

Less than 25 tools total all these years the system has been out with no sign of expanding much
Barely more compact than 20v counterpart, battery style does it no favors to compete in 12v space
Most if not all M12 counterparts out perform the 12v dewalt line
Better M12 warranty

If you spend the money you can just buy the 4 amp battery which can function as a base if you really need it.

If you only need very basic power tools that will be reliable, decent price on sale you probably wont be disappointed but when you can find M12 tools for similar prices I don't see a reason to go for dewalts line.
