I'm looking to upgrade my Ryzen 3 2200G CPU. I don't use the graphics on the CPU, so wondering what Ryzen chip others would recommend and wondering whether I'd notice a significant difference. In other words, would it be worth upgrading? I realize it depends on the applications being used, etc., but would like to gauge the level of improvement overall.
Thanks.

Any AM4 desktop CPU will be a significant upgrade from the 2200G. Zen and Zen+ owners should look at Zen 3 doe stronger IPC. You have options like the 5500, 5600, 5700x and 5900x. I'm still on a R7 1700 and any of these chips here will be a major step up for single core performance.

The nice thing about this processor over a 5800x is the power consumption. Otherwise just upgrade to a 5800x for more power, thus more ghz and speed. IMO this isn't worth even 150$. Not many folks want a last gen processor to 'upgrade' to, especially since current gen prices are reasonable.

This isn't a good deal.

I'm still using my 3900x and 5600x in both my desktops. The upgrade to the 5k series isn't worth the performance boost.

I have a 2700x and B450. I think the 2700 was $139 at the time (MC). While I'm highly satisfied with the performance, it's good to know the amount of performance upgrade there would be. Is the 5900x the top of the path?

I can see buying something second hand to shove in much later. I kept an old Intel Ark going for almost a decade by buying dirt cheap cpu upgrades. It's still in use as the hand me down Netflix computer.

Depends on what you're doing. If gaming centric then the 5800x3d. You have the 5900x and 5950x if you need those extra cores. Don't forget APUs such as 4600g, 5600g, 5700g. AM4 is fine for a lot of users.
