the thing about usb-c is that there is a small piece of board right in the middle of the port, so you break that, you have to get new port

lighting port is a hole, therefore the port is almost undestructable

Facts, I know everyone is always raving about usb-c, and I get it that it's convenient having the same cable for multiple things, but durability wise lighting is far superior. I work in a phone repair shop and I'm fixing broken charger ports on androids daily, even though it can plug in either way people still manage to break the usb C connector all the time. Meanwhile I probably fix 5 iphone charger ports a year, it's nearly impossible to break unless you use some crap China charger and fry it.

Having used various amazonbasics iphone chargers I should state there is variance in the quality of different color options (only white is available now). Braided ones are usually better, long braided ones last me longer but they are generally very thick. The worst one I have is the white: flimsier and the plastic degrades relatively more rapidly. Regardless, for a buck, get them as throwaways. They are still better quality than the chinese crap that sells on Amazon for 5 pack different lengths. At least these will provide the advertised 2.4A and can do data transfer better (important for carplay), won't tear apart in a month except if you leave them in the car (then the rubber will go bad soon if exposed to sun, unlike the braided ones that can be left in car).

Liquidating stock. iPhone 15 will have USB-C. Stock up if you have a 14 or below.

To clarify, they will still sell them but quality will suffer the further we get down the iPhone generations.
