I agree, my local Costco is notorious that even if you're not a member for 18 months, they said my info is still exists in their computer and refused to honor any discounted membership and also once said I can't join a family member living in the same address because my relatives last name is different from mine. My local Costco enforces their own crazy rules and I told them to kiss my back and went to local Sam's which is very friendly and also as a premier member get to enjoy unlimited order online and have curbside pickup without going to the club, which is really useful during winter months.
I hate Costco. Parking, people with stupid carts slowly walking in the middle, some lady that opens every box of fruits and shuffle things around, sample carts blocking the way… nah
Tempted but is it true if you have a Costco gift card, you can shop with that, without needing a membership?
Don't understand why people waste $60 on membership. Just get a temporary membership, then buy a bunch of $20 Costco GCs. Cancel your Costco membership right after getting the GCs for a full refund.
Subsequently, shop with your $20 GC and pay the difference on the bill with a Visa credit card, cash, or ANY kind of debit card.
Once in a blue moon, you'll encounter an a$$hole on duty MOD that gives a dirty look because he/she knows you're aware of this trick, but who cares. Feelings can't feed your family!

the one rule that usually disqualifies me from getting a discounted Costco membership is that it regularly requires automatic renewal with a Visa card, which I don't have. I don't see that requirement here.
Even if you sign up for auto renewal it's not too hard to uncheck that "feature" from your account.
That's a hard no. I have access to both and they're leagues apart. Costco is very much more premium and Sam's is just a supped up walmart. You're paying less because you're receiving less. Also, Sam's club pizza is straight garbage.
Very much depends on the item and distance of the club

Always go non peak hours to Costco. Our stores have limited samples now

Privacy.com: associate your bank account, generate digital card numbers which you can revoke after one use or set spending limits (e.g., $1.00). Ideal for trial offers.

I spend $500 a month on groceries, so I should buy 3- 6 months of GC's for $1,500 - $3,000 on my 20% APR credit card to save $30. and that's not even counting the other stuff like clearance TV's Soda Streams, Blue rays, ect.
That's why the suggestion was to get $20 GCs and pay the difference at check out. 3 months worth is $60 if you shop once a month.
BTW, paying 20% APR on a credit card is not at all such slick. Don't do it.
For everyone here who is stealing memberships by using someone else's card.... places like this run on memberships. Imagine selling one membership and allowing 10 people to use it. Lost revenue.
Imagine a musician releasing an album. One person buys it, then makes 10 copies for friends. Lost revenue. Now imagine you own Costco, or you released the album, and all the lost revenue is money not in YOUR pocket. Stop stealing, one day it may be you being stolen from.

the last time I tried to sign up for a membership (either with Groupon or Living Social), I went to the membership desk to complete the sign up & they wanted to see the card I used to pay, they refused to accept anything other than a Visa credit card, which I didn't have. I was given a refund by Groupon.
I'm looking to get eyeglasses. I was told that I can make an appointment to see the optician, but I need to be a member to purchase eyeglasses.
