I received my 6a from Metro and can confirm that it won't work with TMobile sim out of the box. I've tested with my T-Mobile sim card and couldn't get services.

I would eat the additional net $10 to avoid all that crap and get a new number. No AF, $20 cheaper plan. Authorized dealers are 90% scammers.

So I have both A54 and S21FE. I just played with both more today and must say, if not considering battery, s21FE is just better in almost every aspect. Thinner bazels, more responsive fingerprint sensor, better/juicer colors and viewing angles, better camera, mega super-duper stereo speakers (A54 also has good ones but s21 has better ones). I had Pixel7 and honestly, I hated the screen. Had terrible headaches just from staring at P7, so I assume with P6a it would be the same (if not worse). Therefore, if you have extra $50 and want some decent camera and overall smooth experience go with s21fe, but if battery really meters go with a54. However, if you just want the cheapest option and like making photos, go with P6a. Just my 2 cents

I did this deal, switched my number over from my parents ATT plan, however the total price came out to around $130. The agent said I had to do the $65/mo unlimited plan for the first month to get the promotion. Also there was a $15 charge for a new SIM card, and a $35 activation fee. There was going to be a tax on the MSRP for the phone, so around $22, but after going thru the pain of having to find all the info he needed to switch me over, he off the books took the tax off and gave me a screen protector instead that the tax would've cost.

So ended up being twice the price of what I anticipated but was desperate for a new phone and it's been working well enough for me so far. Battery lasts all day, camera has nice features, etc. Sometimes has issues reconnecting with wifis I already connected to, having to re-enter the password. And sometimes it will show strong signal but calls and texts wont go through. Weird. But for the most part, still a decent deal for a new phone. I plan to cancel after that first month and use it as a camera and emergency wifi calls connecting to a hotspot probably.

thats too bad.

wiki warns of the experience u can expect in store.

if porting, the cost of phone is $0...however the total price came out to around $130 for u.
if getting new number is $94
(just bought a a54 today).

one could theoretically get a new number.
check signal etc.
and ask metro to port in the old number from different carrier over the newly assigned metro number.
if the goal is to continue using metro

honestly, metro service is not too bad.
when compare to my native TM service.
especially if they bring back the $25 plan for 1 line

I forgot to mention more clearly, this was the price of porting my old phone number over. It would have been even more if I had gotten a new number, I believe he stated the number that was mentioned by OP

apologies. However, you are severely misinformed. If you get a new number. Get it online. Out the door everything will be $94. Countless of people have done this. And again do not go into the store.

would suggest to you and anyone else that is new to this deal. Read the wiki. Lots of good information there. That is why it is posted.

I got this to try the service and I have ATT Prepaid. A few things I noted

a)Moving SIM from one phone to another doesn't work (also posted in FAQ) - You need to call and it takes about 5 minutes. It is OK for me, but an just an annoying restriction.

b)The $40 plan does not have hotspot - I didn't check, so this service doesn't work for me.

c) I wanted to use another phone (Moto) and I checked it on their website using their IMEI checker and it said that the Moto phone works, but I only get 2G speeds - almost useless.

d) ATT Prepaid sim doesn't work when inserted (asks me to get the device unlocked) - the FAQ said that it may work, but in my case it doesn't.

Question:
Can I switch my ATT to the eSim on this phone, or is the eSim is also locked? How would I test if the eSim is also locked?

I have no actual experience with it, but if Metro's reason for locking up the pSIM to prevent the buyer from using the phone with a non-Metro provider in the first 180 days, why would they leave the door open to the eSIM?

A way to test and see if the eSIM is locked is to obtain an eSIM from another provider for cheap or free (like T-mo trial) and see if the phone will allow you to download the eSIM to it.

No one do that. Because you can unlock after 40 days on T-Mobile. Why spend 6 months on Metro?
My guess is you still can not unlock it after 6 months because the imei is not on Metro data base.

T-Mobile phones work on T-Mobile mvno. I know it works on metro and mint. Not sure about us mobile.

I want to buy a TMobile 13 pro and unlock it so it has to be on TMobile prepaid I'm guessing, I asked if it could be on metro but you said you doubt the IMEI is in their system which makes sense. Unlocked iphones are expensive.

basically going back to iphone the cheapest way possible.
