The fight is between this and the Westinghouse 4500 watt dual fuel electric start

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099KSY...3C2NTF3G3W
But it's significantly more expensive, even the lowest it's ever gone according to the camels is still higher than this Champion. Good reviews on both. Can anyone comment?

These 120v generators are a bit tricky to use with transfer switch. But the 240v ones are much louder which is a deal breaker for me

Is there such a thing as a 220 inverter that can hook to my transfer switch? This won't power my panel.

How easy is to install a transfer switch? I've been wanting an electrician to do it for me but I can't find one to (want to) do it. My skill thus far is limited to swapping out light fixtures, switches and outlets when it comes to electric work.

I have the dual fuel westinghouse and it is really nice. It has an eco mode that makes it ultra quiet if you are not running a lot off it.

while these enclosed inverters are a bit more quiet, they are known to overheat vs. the open frame inverters that are exposed to the air for better cooling yet a bit louder.

I'm pretty sure you can get a TT-30 to 14-30 adapter to connect to a standard 30amp 240v inlet box. You might also be able to find a TT-30 inlet box, but I wouldn't recommend that. Then just don't wire any 240V stuff to your transfer switch because both legs will be the same phase instead of opposite phase.

That works only if you don't have multi-wire branch circuits. If you have those, the neutral wire can be overloaded and cause fire.

Just FYI for those who think they will get 240v if they use 2 in parallel, it won't work. It'll power 110v but it won't double the voltage as well. If you go deep into the reviews, you'll find the explanations, but just thought I'd save someone the trouble who went through my line of thinking. You would want something along the lines of the 9kw inverter generators (that are dual fuel) but they're not the best quality brands if that's something you're paying attention to.

They still are the same phase at 240V. You are using the full winding on the secondary side of the transformer.

Instead of a transfer switch, why not go for an interlock kit instead? I just did one myself… it was extremely easy. Watch a bunch of YouTube videos and make sure to turn off the power main + don't touch the main lines coming into the panel.

I was quoted anywhere from $1400 to $3500. Pretty insane at the top end.
