2560 x 1080 resolution kills the deal. At 34", things are going to be fuzzy. Most monitors this size have 3440 x 1440 or greater.

+1? Don't want to discourage anyone from buying an ultrawide--they're awesome.

That said, my new 34" 3440x1440 is really nice.

Sure, resolution is not ideal. But where can you find this size monitor for $199?

Size isn't everything….

This is worse than your average 27" monitor resolution.

Your average 27" monitor isn't an ultra wide monitor.

is it reasonable to assume that for most situations using two 27" borderless fhd monitors side-by-side is a better way to go than this 34" option? assuming of course that the computer can handle multiple monitors.

How is it worse? 34" 21:9 and 27" 16:9 share the same vertical height. Horizontally, the 34" is 34% larger than a 27". Horizontal resolution is also 34% larger than 1920. It's a like for like. PPI at that point becomes something to look at.

Best deal i've seen on an ultrawide and i've been watching and waiting for a few months now.... not sure if i'll pull the trigger though based on what people are saying about the resolution :/ I wonder if they have one in store I can go judge for myself?

A not-bottom barrel 27" monitor is 2560x1440. This is 2560x1080 over a 7" wider monitor.

You're seeing less information on this monitor than a normal 27"

Apples vs oranges. The monitor in this post is a $199 bottom-of-the-barrel ultra wide!

Resolution does not equate to screen real estate, you are now speaking of visual clarity of content. Plus, I was using a 1080p 27" monitor as a ref, if you are going to be using a QHD 27", it's no longer apples to apples, which is the point of my original comparison. I apologize for assuming you meant average was 1080p. I was only speaking in terms of physical inches.

Which is why it's not worth $199 when you get more screen real-estate on a 1440P 27"
