Same. Used to love Priceline but it's gone downhill lately IMO. I'm Priceline VIP and the "amazing" coupon codes they send me for 5% - 10% off their Express Deals barely cover the marked-up fee cost they slap onto them in the first place. Also, I was excited that Priceline started listing private home rentals until I realized that they hide absolutely ridiculous "daily fees" until the final step of checkout, which typically end up doubling the sticker price. I wouldn't care if they were just honest about the cost per night up front (like their sister site Booking.com is), instead of being scummy about it.

Also -- yeah, lukewarm deals here, and anything that's half decent is super limited. (First 25 people to book? Seriously??) At least Priceline still has an excellent UI with its map view and multiple filters. Lately I've used it to find potential bookings then book those cheaper on another site.

Happy Birthday! Feels Priceline itself can't handle the excitement of their 25th birthday with those lukewarm offers. Was booking quite often with them, but not anymore as other booking websites or direct booking with hotels is way cheaper.

Pro Tip (from someone that works in the Travel Industry): Several booking websites are able to significantly undercut online pricing if you call in to a call center. The big guys don't always offer this option due to staffing costs at call centers. But hotels will often give call centers significantly cheaper rates through consolidators. Find a mid-size booking website (I doubt SD will let me list some here), research the cheapest rate online, then call in and see if they can beat it. You'll be surprised how often they'll be able to.

Clear is difficult to cancel. I cancelled before my trial ended and they still charged me. I had to find a way to contact them to get that charge reversed. It's a horrible headache for no reason.

Used to book on Priceline and find good Express Deals, until I compared their results side by side with Expedia and noticed that (1) Expedia often have lower prices (2) Expedia lists the complete cost of a stay including taxes and fees in the search result, while Priceline never shows the full price until checkout, which often end up significantly higher what they appear in the results (especially for those with "resort fees"). Decided to ditch Priceline after that.

That's what i thought, but I guess it depends on the area. In my city, I thought the parking spot was terrible. It is overpriced, the facility itself looks run down, and most importantly the shuttle vans don't run as frequently as other cheaper options. I was forced to book there because it was the holidays and forgot to pre-book our usual spot, but never again.

With my recent experiences with Priceline, no way do I spend money with them again. They have gone over the cliff, customer service to respond to problems is utterly broken.

I've been keeping an eye on rental car prices for a vacation later this summer. The rental car prices today, with the supposed "save 25% without a coupon!," are actually higher than they were just a few days ago. The deceit is annoying.

I always start my search at Priceline as vip gold, just habitual. Once I know a few places I want to stay, always do a quick search on google to confirm you are getting the best price.
