You have better options at $210. On paper, it's really not a bad phone, but it was soooo buggy in the early days when this was first released.

Maybe the fingerprint works when the stars align. This was the generation of Pixel that made me switch to iPhones.

What options, specifically? Please no time machine deals.

My personal feedback on the Pixel 6: Bought a new one about a year ago at full price. Upgraded from the Pixel 3A XL when the latest android updates had slowed it to a crawl.

The Pixel 6, despite being in the "main line" (not an "A" model) and a few generations ahead.. hasn't been the best. Lots of random OS issues that seem to just be a thing with most people. Wireless charging will stop whenever the phone hits a certain temp (100 degrees?) which, in the summer, can be just above ambient temperature.

Just recently, the Pixel line has started to auto-dim once the phone reaches a certain temp (nothing that I would even consider hot -- talking just watching a youtube video or running instagram). The auto-dimming is not indicated anywhere and brightness will show 100% despite it dimming to around 60%. This creates an issue if you do any sort of content editing or posting, as your phone will randomly be 40% dimmer without any warning.. so if you're editing exposure on a photo or video, or posting somewhere, you'll likely end up overexposing it.

These are a couple of the issues. There does not seem to be a way to turn either off, and while I do understand the point of them.. I wouldn't consider any of those temps to be enough to cause warning or a device to auto-protect itself. It's silly when you need to aim a fan at it so that it will charge wirelessly.

To confirm - these aren't weird issues that I'm experiencing just myself, I did a search and apparently these are just how the latest OS works (even on pixel 7). I also don't live in the desert, Arizona or Texas, I live in SoCal in the city. when you can't charge your phone for more than 10 seconds because your house is too warm in the summer? and even overnight it might not get to 100% because the charger is kicking on/off constantly to keep it from warming up? it sucks.

when it does work though, it's nice!

I've had no issues with the fingerprint sensor. Bluetooth, wifi, everything else works great.

For $200, I'd buy it again. But as someone who LOVED the pixel line up until this one.. I am let down by it. I left iPhone for the Pixel (3A XL) and would leave the 6 to go back to iPhone.

I bought mine full price on release. Most complaints you hear are valid but the tensor core has been completely worth it for call filtering and transcribing, along with voice control of my music and doing speech practice in Duolingo. For those reasons the phone's other idiosyncracies have easily been worth tolerating.

I'll probably wait until pixel 8 to upgrade mainly to get a more powerful camera if it has one.

Had the 6 pro and was happy with it. The screen broke and replaced it with a open box Pixel 7 Pro which was $450 on ebay. Repair on the 6 Pro would have been $275 so figured I'd just spend a little more for a newer gen phone. Both feel the same but the face unlock and the improved finger print scanner was the only real difference I noticed. Long time android user and I feel the Pixel line is top tier simply because it runs pure android and gets the fastest updates.

I am holding out in hopes they'll have a 15% off coupon like they did on Pixel 5.

i have the 6 as well but haven't experienced overheating issues

how is the ambient temperature in your house (assuming bc you mentioned overnight) 100 degrees?

i get overheating while wireless charging in the car on a hot day and that happens with ANY PHONE but I don't see how it's normal to have indoor temps of 100 degrees

Upper floor, older apartment with no AC. Socal summers can easily be 10 degrees hotter inside than out. My receiver fan has a temp gauge on it (to adjust power as needed) and I have to push it above 100 so it's not constantly running, even with the receiver is off).

Right now it's 63 degrees outside and 79 inside

Piece of ish phone. I bought one brand new and this is by far the worst phone I owned. And I owned both android and apple products.
Battery is crap from the start.

Is the phone good or bad? LoL. I keep seeing reviews that are tremendously contradictory.

I am very confused? Are fake bots the ones posting positive reviews? You can never really tell anymore in 2023. Sigh

No AC with ambient room temperatures well in the 90s and you are somehow in denial that this is not normal ("I don't live in a desert but in a city") and are posting a lengthy negative review which is somehow supposed to be representative of a normal use case?

Unless someone buys it to ship it to a Thirld World country, I doubt it is representative for anyone in the US (at least not those who should be dropping $200+ on a used phone).

Had the pixel 7 switched to a54 - better screen. And although midrange processor so it's not as lightning fast - the pixel 7 glitched alot.

This. This sooo much. My experience was soo bad with this phone that I bought my first iphone ever. I guess I may never have tried apple products any other way, if google had not forced me into it

If you see soo many contradictory comments, there is a very real possibility that the phone is a dud. I owned a brand new pixel 6. I have not owned such a shitty device in a very long time of device ownership. It was soo bad, I bought my first ever iphone 14
