There is a self parking garage across the street. It twenty something per day. Cheaper if you pay for the week.

Once I started staying at vacation rentals in Hawaii I will never go back to a regular hotel. They are about the same price but they are much larger (especially the lanai), you know exactly where you'll be staying and what your view is, and they usually include a lot of extras (chairs, snorkel gear, umbrellas, boogie boards, coolers, cooking equipment, etc. Plus there's usually private parking that is free. I just booked a trip to Oahu and the Big Island and all 3 of my places have stunning views, huge lanais, and easy walking access to the beach. Just my 2 cents.
Can you recommend a few in oahu? Thanks!

Just left Oahu last week. We stayed on the other side of the island and ventured over to Waikiki. What a mess. Mass people. Traffic. No place to park. That's not Hawaii (at least not the Hawaii I go for).

Whatever you do for a rental car, DO NOT rent from Hertz. 2.5 hour wait to get your car. And was told it's like that every day at Hertz Honolulu.

That's my Public Service Message for you.
Also, a warning that they will charge you a resort fee and parking reaching $50 a day at most of the Waikiki Hotels! That and the filth of thousands of stinky bums on every street corner and beaches littered with bums camping island wide. Honolulu is a cesspool that makes the bum infested Santa Monica look like paradise these days.

I'm headed to Kauai with my family in July, struggling to find a good place to stay for a family of five. Anyone have any recommendations? I was looking at princeville but their portal seems to be straight from the 1990s, impossible to get any real information on rooms.
Kauai is the best!! Honestly I would go with Airbnb or an equivalent…

You can save yourself the $200 a night plus parking fees, etc. if you just bring a tent and camp on any beach you want. There are over 6,000 people camping along the beaches on any given day and there's ZERO enforcement from any law enforcement agency.

The 4 times I've been to Oahu, any place in the island is busy. Sure, north shore is slightly less busy, but it's still crazy busy. We do have some spots on north shore we do love though. Waikiki is wack.
We were there in March and Haleiwa was just an end-to-end traffic jam! Traffic was so bad on the highway that it's hard to cross to the beach. I was used to it being a sleepy little town when I went there in the 80s and 90s. And yeah Waikiki has gone from nuts to...I guess whack is right (maybe if you just want to party it's OK). We still enjoyed gardens and trails away from HNL.

i second this. i went with an airbnb that turned out to be a one bedroom penthouse suite at a 3* hotel with a dedicated parking space, that was cheaper than most hotel rooms i saw after adding in all the fees and crap. It was funny because a normal room at the hotel would have cost me the same amount but without...the penthouse, the parking space or a living room Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) but i had to give up maid service which i was okay with

Oh, I was asking about the vacation rentals in Oahu. I'm not that into camping at the moment, but thanks for the tip! 😊

You don't need a car rental if you're staying in Waikiki. We took buses up to the crater and also to Pearl harbor. The hotel is right in the center of town. We rented a car one day just to drive to the north shore. Which is nice too, very different than the city. Low key. Figuring out the parking garage where the rental was located was a nightmare though. Waikiki is great for beach fun, swimming, surfing. Had a fantastic time. Hawaiian airlines gave out free cocktails on the way there. But not on the trip home 😔

Is there a good website to look to find them? Or best companies to use?

Yeah, I just don't care for all the silly so-called "perks" like new sheets, pool service, hotel restaurants (always overpriced), and concierge service. Plus it feels like you are tipping everyone and everybody all the time. Uh..no thanks.

Use VRBO to find the addresses of the places and then try to see if they have a direct booking website outside of VRBO. It will save you a little money. However, sometimes I just book straight through VRBO to avoid the hassle. Just keep in mind that whatever price tthey list per night will likely be about $50 more per night after all the taxes and fees. It's usually still a great deal though.

You can use the parking at the zoo for your car. It's way cheaper too. The "ocean" view is trash. The room and restroom are pretty old and small. It's not up to Hyatt "standard". Good luck with their valet parking. They have limited spaces. You are on your own when it's full.

Parking at the zoo is also another option.

-Expensive parking, lots of one way traffic
-room weren't cooling fast enough, or not enough, not helped by Sun!

Awesome view of the beach, you will be helicopters, yachts, nice view
Super close to the beach, each to go there and come back and take a shower.
