There is a self parking garage across the street. It twenty something per day. Cheaper if you pay for the week.

Agreed but Oahu has plenty of non touristy spots as well. It's a big Island.
as a whole, the other islands give a more authentic hawaiian experience.

They tried to park overnight which isn't allowed. The park enforcement people know tourists will fall for the free parking.

Stayed here using Costco Travel (likely cheaper). Place is fine, but daily parking is a valet at $50 something per day. Also, the worst part, the elevators are SLOW. You're lining up at the lobby for it, and the stairs are inaccessible as it's only for exiting or if you're already in your floor (you're using the stairs to go to breakfast for example). If you have no other choice, take it, but I wouldn't stay here again unless I had no other choice. Staff are great. It's the building. They need serious update.

Parking at the zoo isn't free. you can pay overnight on your phone, that's why I did. I was there a few months ago, maybe it changed.

I got my airfare booked. First class from PVR with 50k flyer miles plus $90. Not too shabby.

The deal is for two, so what happens if I book for 2 adults but then show up with 2 small kids. Anyone know?
They won't allow the kids to even enter the hotel. They will be tackled by security, at the main entrance and then the kids will be forced to sleep outside in lounge chairs by the pool…

All big cities around the world has charged. Miami , NY, London, and on and on. Instead of $50, perhaps it was $35, but everything has gone up. Miami charges $75 10 years ago.

Las Vegas of free parking is no more and hadn't been for a while. Thought perhaps self parking still is at some spot and a void LV like a plague unless it's work.

And it's actually a good thing. if cars were so cheap to every tourist that visited Hawaii, it would be a disaster. it already is way too much.
This is just not true at all. I stayed at a top of the line JW Marriott on Brickell Ave and overnight valet parking was $35/night. This was about 2 years ago. The current price is now $42/night. Even the Ritz Carlton on South Beach is currently $42/night. So no clue where you're getting $75, 10 years ago?! Talk about exaggerating…

true if you go to the nice resort areas like Kaanapali or Wailea, but in other areas you can stay for less. we stayed in Kihei twice and it was more affordable.

and other islands like Kauai are going to be even more affordable
When's the last time you were in Kauai? We started going to Oahu (east side) because Kauai has become an overpriced greed-fest with fees for everything (including literally a fee for making a reservation!).

Ever since Kauai was bought out by movie stars, everything is overpriced and you're fee'd to death.

Eden Roc was $65 few years ago. Few NYC hotels were $85.

"Not true at all"? Ummm.. not quite.

This whole thread on parking is absurd. Not to mention the post-covid travel world is an entirely different beast, for now.
