Ridiculous price.
These were $245 a few months ago! The best Gen 4 drive. I would've jumped on this in a heartbeat if I didn't have my Sk Hynix P41 platinum.
You mean this? https://slickdeals.net/f/16549591-samsung-990-pro-2tb-143-99-w-disocat-code-at-samsung

Will Amazon match bh? I didn't jump on it last time but now I'm in a hurry to have a new build to run a local chatgpt, everybody told me I'd better go with 2TB than a 1TB.

I got an SN850X for my PS5 instead of a 990 Pro because I didn't want to deal with opening my PC up and sticking the 990 Pro inside just to update the firmware to fix the bug where it writes itself to an early death.

Samsung really screwed up with the 990 Pro, up until that one, I only ever bought Samsung SSD's. But now they really aren't any better than cheaper competitors.

Idk whether this is a good deal because 980 990 has some issues, including firmware. Mine died a few days ago, and the RMA process is a nightmare. Mine stuck on readonly mode, and they are expecting me to send the drive undamaged to them 😡

I got the sn850 now, and something I realized quickly is that I had some micro stutters before, now It's somehow magically cured. I don't have any data to back it, but it's something

WD sn850x is $150.
In raw benchmark test, WD SN850x is slightly faster than Samsung 990 Pro, but Samsung uses less power and runs cooler, so it will throttle less and run smoother than WD. Applause

In Windows 10 & 11, BitLocker Drive Encryption by SW adds CPU and RAM overheads. I found only 3 SSDs include AES encryption by HW - Samsung 990 Pro, 980 Pro, and Crucial P5 Plus. Peace

Keep in mind the best thing you can do is have good systemic cooling. This just helps moves the heat off certain aspects that can get hot on the SSD board itself but if your overall system cools well, it's kinda pointless IMHO
Why are you spreading false information?

Having a heatsink means more surface area for thermal dissipation. These are usually made of copper or aluminum which have thermal conductivities that are thousands of times higher than ambient air.

There's a reason water cooled systems still have big chunks of metal for the water blocks above each chip and big radiators to go along with it: Water conduction alone isn't enough to cool them.

Nice price, but already have a 4TB WD 850x picked up for ~300 during last BF in my gaming rig. Really anxious to see when high performance 8TB NVME's will be coming out. With game sizes becoming ridicolous these days (Jedi Survivor is 125GB !!) and the way patching works, even a 3GB patch for it ends somehow demanding like 250gb of concurrent space...

This was just $139 on Amazon a few days ago.

Never mind, that was the 980 Pro. Since this is the 990 Pro, I'm assuming it's a good price?
Yes i bought at 139 as well that 980 Pro

Not spreading misinformation, I'm talking about an enclosed box case that has the ability for mass fan cooling. If you're pulling the heat out of an enclosed box very efficiently, it's thermally better than an 80mm heat sync on an SSD. But if one were to have a box with good airflow, wouldn't the SSD **with** the heatsink outperform one without? Why do we have to choose between the equivalent of a sauna and a heatsink? In most cases, I think people are already moving air in and out, maybe not with optimal efficiency... But well enough that having a heatsink on their SSDs makes sense

Samsung Tax. Save yourself $45 dollars can get similar 2TB 7400MB/s drives for $115 now

This drive draws less power during use than anything close to it's performance. Could justify small price premium for the lower wattage in a thin and light that gets used. On the other hand, idle power usage is high.

I went with the P44 Pro over this.
