Grabbed one, nice deal. For the same price as the $3200 64GB/2TB M1 Max Mac Studio, you're getting the same CPU, GPU, and RAM, but with 2TB extra storage, a really nice display, portability, and better repairability (the Studio isn't as friendly to being taken apart).

It's a bit overkill (I only need 2TB/32GB), but discounts this deep on BTO configs are rare and its specs will help it hold its aftermarket value better than the more common models.

Congrats if you need one now. The only risk here is that 3nm m3 chip may hammer on resell value of M1 and M2 chips. You may want to keep the box unopened until Apple's June event.

This is a solid deal, keep in mind it doesn't come with Apple Care included which is normally discounted as a bundle.. that variant isn't discounted right now.

Last week the 14" mbp same specs minus 2TB SSD was for 2,500. So for 700 more you get a larger screen, and 2tb more SSD. Obviously smaller upgrades with speakers and thermal performance but if you're in between both just ask yourself is $700 is worth those upgrades.

Only issue with waiting too long is, theres a chance of lower pricing eventually UNLESS they sell out like alot of other variants have. So if you need it don't think. If you can wait.. that waiting might save you a few hundred dollars.

Newer reports indicate that those chips are set aside for the iphones and they are holding off M3 for MacBooks till late this year / early next year release. Also the standard M3 will still still not be as powerful as this m1 MAX when it comes to high usage work since the MacBook airs are not as thermal efficient

I'm waiting for the MBA15, but the M1 prices have been dropping a lot. The 32GB M1 MBP 16 is at $2k new on Amazon, and is down to $1500-$1800 on eBay (used/refurb).

64GB will allow use of the big language models locally, which is crazy.

Prices will only drop...and this MBP retina 2015 is getting long in the tooth. Arrgh!
