Does the RP plan have hotspot? Pretty sure the AT&T prepaid plan does. Also, buying AT&T locked phones work on it, which was nice a few years ago. Moved over to US Mobile myself
Yes, on hotspot. That's all I use that plan for. I have my dad with a locked GoPhone on their $60/yr plan. I've even used an unlocked ZTE Zmax2 (android 7) as a hotspot device as recently as last fall. Currently using a non-whitelisted G Power 2020. I suspect RP isn't that stringent about applying the whitelist. 😃

Where did you purchase the ebay gift cards from?
Most grocery stores sell them. Guessing CVS and Target do, too, but I haven't looked. I bought some a few years ago before I got a PayPal account.

Nice. At first I thought you were saying you did hotspot for the 60/year plan! Haha just lil bit of hotspot...

Oh I remember the zmax. Pretty sure I tried once for a Metro deal with it but at that time T-Mobile couldn't hold my Midwest phone number. Huge phone by that times standards if I recall.

To answer your original question, sounds like the only real value of the AT&T plan is the B&M store aspect or perhaps if the rollover could get you an even higher allotment if saved from the previous month? I had several of us on the $300/year AT&T deal, but haven't tried RP yet until I just got the iPhone 13 mini rebate deal.

* The ZMAX 2 was a monster for its time.

Yeah, it seems the Att plan is best if you regularly use under 16Gb which is not me. Also, I've read that the rollover only carries over one month and available after you use the regular 16Gbs. In any case, not a fit for me.

Red pocket is the worst cell provider I've ever dealt with.
I've had no issues but I've only purchased the $30 eBay plans and had minimal interaction with their CSRs

That YOU'VE ever dealt with...

My fam has been with them for over two years. No probs and great coverage.

PS: I think we had to pay $1 extra a month for visual voicemail on iphones...

Can someone confirm that Redpocket website plans can be applied on existing lines?

Not positive, but I think the process to renew via their web doesn't give you the same (or any) discount. I usually renew via ebay. Last year, I got a new line via web to get the discount. If you renew via ebay, you can send the flyer to your 'beach house' and avoid the sales tax.

I'm moving from Redpocket. I'm a low data user and was on their Verizon plan with 1000 mins, unlimited texts and 1GB data/month. Data top ups were 100MB for $2 or 250MB for $5. Now the smallest top up is 1GB for $10 or 2GB for $20. If I run out of data 2 or 3 days before my plan renews I'm now spending double what my monthly plan cost just to have data for a few days. Also when you run out of data the only way to send texts is via wifi. Bye bye Redpocket. You finally got too greedy.
I was on that plan and got tired of running out of data too. It wasn't often, but even just a few times a year adds up. Switched to boost with 30GB (hotspot too) for $25/mo which is only like $7/mo more than I was paying for 8GB. And with the boost app, I get about $20-$25 back every two months or so, effectively making it about half price.

edit: Forgot to add that boost refill cards often go on sale too. I'm definitely paying less for 30GB than I was for 8GB with red pocket, just with a couple extra steps.

Looks like RP finally need to reduce their price. I was RP user of 8gb ($240 annual plan) for a few years. I usually renew around black Friday for its sale price at aour. $200 for 8gb. Last black Friday, RP only reduce from $240 to $230. I was not happy to see that price on top of all the RP issues people were having with. With the discount of buy 3 month get 3 month free from mint, I decided to switch and try something else (mint is TMobile network). I think Mint is a bit worse than RP. So I guess it's time to switch back to RP. Hopefully their service is getting better. I usually go with CDMA on RP.
What are the issues you are having? I am on RP, too.

Having some voice connection issues, but only recently
