This kills broad leaf weeds decently well, you don't want to mow before applying. You want it longer and wet so it sticks to the weeds. After a few seasons of regular lawn maintenance (4ish fertilizing sessions, aerating, detaching, overseeding every few years), you shouldn't really need this and can use a regular fertilizer like their regular turf builder in the late spring. People saying it's too hot to apply this probably live in warmer climates. I'm heating my house on occasion still, planning to apply my bag I grabbed last year in a week. This gets really cheap in the fall, I've gotten a 40lb bag for $24 from Walmart before

i have a lot of dead grass, and weed. I just mowed yesterday. can i spread weed and feed now?

thanks
Figure out if you have warm season or cool season grass, then follow a care calendar.

Eg. https://www.domyown.com/lawn-care...a-538.html

https://ipm.ucanr.edu/TOOLS/TURF/...index.html

If spring grass growth hasn't yet started, this product will work in stopping weeds.

All depends on where you are located.

I think so too. They were much cheaper back in March, so might be better to get them in the fall, or early spring at a deep discount -- https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/t/16513555
Good advice but fake news on posting a link which references a deal nobody could replicate.

Does this contain glyphosphate or any cancer or bad stuff?
If you live in California the plastic bag is likely to cause cancer.

To hot for weed and feed. Wrong season.
Depends on where you live. You can still apply weed and feed in many northern states.

This stuff definitely works. I had a weed break out 6 weeks ago, the weeds have all finally disappeared completely. I just put another application on.

Depends on which part of the country you live in. If you live in the South it's probably too late.

It's good timing now in the North/Northeast.

Best to water a bit before applying so the weed killer sticks to the weeds. I ran my sprinkler for 10 minutes on each zone prior to. Once applied, you don't want to water for at least 24 hours so weed killer stays on weeds and can act against them. I waited more than 48 hours. It definitely works.

You don't want to apply this at same time as seed. In the North/Northeast best time to seed is very late summer/early fall………late August/early September….once the nights start to be cooler. The key for new seeds/overseeding is to use starter fertilizer and to make sure the seeds stay wet thru germination ( roughly 3 -4 weeks). Means watering 3-6 times a day…..but short waterings….maybe 10-15 minutes each time per zone.

Agree with all of this. One note: If buying fertilizer very early like fall of last year to apply now, you CAN have problems with the fertilizer clumping. Even in sealed bags somehow moisture gets in and clumps up the fertilizer, which then disrupts the evenness of application. The clumps block/stop the spinner of the spreader. You do want even application of fertilizer or you can get stripes of where the grass grows faster.

I've read of people storing these bags inside of special other bags so the moisture can't get in.
If anyone has links to those bags would be appreciated.

Another thing you can do is to beak up the clumps by hand. As this is weed killer it would be best to wear protection.

I'm reading that it's too warm to do so but how about in California? It's been in the low - mid 70's these past two weeks and going to continue for the next week or so. Additionally, do you reseed the grass before applying this?

Worked out for me. Applied this last fall after core aerating the lawn. No daffodils, and much, much less crabgrass this spring compared to last year, and the year prior.

Rent an aerator from Home Depot etc. or get landscaper to do it for you. If you don't have clay soil, you don't really need to aerate. You can also get liquid aerators from Amazon. They work if you follow directions on the bottle.

No glyphosate; that's a grass killer. The active ingredient is 2-4-D, the salt that's in almost every weed killing product that's safe for lawns.
