Amazon has the Kamado Joe Classic Half Moon Cast Iron Grate on sale for $25.47 (lowest ever per CCC). The reversible griddle is also on sale for $32.14 (also lowest ever per CCC). The Classic is the 18" btw - sorry, nothing for the Big Joe or Joe Jr from what I saw.

I picked up a couple of the grates but will likely pass on the griddle - I've heard they're a pain to clean and I already have a Blackstone if I really want to use a griddle

If you absolutely must use a wire brush, it's a real good idea to follow after it with a scouring sponge. Copper "chore boy" style sponges are far less likely to leave behind pieces of metal strong enough to be a problem.
Non-metal, non-bristle (we've removed plastic bristles as well) are best, but not always available.

Great find OP. Surprised not more love.
I saw that and was kind of holding out for it
They have their place. And its not hard to maintain or clean them off. Just let it heat up before grilling, give a good scrub with a wire brush or foil, then oil it. Not that different that prepping a regular steel grate. Maybe scrub it off after your cook and apply a light coat of oil again. Obviously dont leave it uncovered and exposed to the elements

As a proud member of team red, I have no personal experience with the inferior BGE line, but the reviews indicate it will fit on the Large BGE.
I was thinking cast iron is better for high heat searing in particular
More often than not, I am using cast iron one with my gas grill for the fast heat/sear and soapstone with Kamado when I am not in rush.
