Performance on the 4060 Ti is a joke compared to this. You lose out on DLSS3 vs DLSS2 and AV1 encoding, but for gaming and productivity it's essentially a wash in most scenarios. I don't think the $100 premium is worth it going for the 4060 Ti. The 3060 Ti is a solid card, though you need to watch out for the 8GB VRAM limit for future gaming titles

Keep it. The GPU's have almost the same performance.

Seems the general census nowadays is do not waste money on an 8GB card in 2023 because it's already not aging well. Even 1080p Ultra in some titles is demanding beyond 8GB!

8GB cards should be $200. $250 at most.

Yeah that's probably why its 40 off. You can get the zotac at 590 or other brand at 600, still okay deal if you want diablo. Just don't think 3060 ti at 300 is a good deal ATM. Amd has better 8gb cards at that price

The significance of this deal is that Nvidia is finally being forced into discounting their cards due to poor sales. Although I would not buy this card due to the limited vram, I look forward to price reductions on the 4070. It may take a while, but a 4070 at $500 or a 4070 ti at $650 would finally temp me into upgrading from my 2070 super.

This card is close to 3 years old. 4070 is a month old, with diablo 4 for free, it's close enough to 500, the promotion is only through mid june

I distinctly remember one of the more prominent/popular tech guys on YouTube just absolutely railing on one of the video card companies because they were adding ABSURD amounts of VRAM (pretty sure he was referring to 12) , and nothing would possibly use it even in mid future. Big Grin

This was a year ago I'm thinking. Either he was VERY wrong or things have changed quickly in terms of VRAM usage.

Don't remember the name, but just remember him being very opinionated, and very sure. Big Grin
To be fair, we're still not seeing games where the additional VRAM is feature justified. It's mostly just a bandaid for poorly running games.

Developers are not optimizing their ports while trying to hit multiple target systems, including the occasional last gen releases.

There's also a lot of recent Unreal 5 tech that they haven't had a chance to utilize yet, but should result in better out of the box performance. I imagine once they do so, you might see some titles that actually have lax requirements on VRAM when running on lower settings.

With that said, the practice of release first and optimize later is not going away anytime soon, so it's almost becoming a situation where it's no longer sustainable to buy a mid range card to play the latest games anymore.

$300 for a last gen base model? No thanks. We need to give Nvidia the Bud Light treatment until they come to their senses with pricing.

No 8gb cards at that price. 6700/6750xt is abit faster anyway.

there is a 6750xt on newegg for $320. And the 6700 is around the same price. Seems like a better deal.

yes. Just think of a more efficient 2080ti but with an extra 1GB.

edit: original comment meant to say 6700xt/6750xt. but the 6700 at $280 is an ok value with 10GB.

How can I find out how much of an upgrade this will be over a Nvidia K2200 GPU in my workstation and if it will even be compatible? The k2200 can only do 20-25fps on lowest settings for original Warzone (warzone 1).

K2200 is a GM107, which is something like a 750 Ti which is 5 times slower than this card. This card consumes something like 3x the power.

Wow. So I'm guessing warzone would be no problem. But will I have to get a new power supply? And do I just make sure that my motherboard has a free PCI Express 4 slot and that's it? Other than making sure it will physically fit of course.

I'm seeing a lot of reviewers / testers saying the same between the 4xxx and 3xxx. It's like the gains are null and it's more like a money grab aka 'LOOK a brand new shiny thing with modest gains that you fan boys (and gals) are willing to shell out some hard earned cash for!'

I was looking at some laptops with 4xxx but was told to not buy them due to 8GB and that it was over priced as you're getting a way more solid performance from the 3xxx
