Good price but reviews are mixed. Anyone have personal experience?

How to install it? Does it need to connect to the house inverter? Will it be another $200 to hire an electrician?
This only requires plumbing, no electric. The pool pump would be used to pump water through it. The sun heats the panels which in turn heat the water.

At this price, should include a pump (or offer a pump attachment extra) and not rely on the filter pump because it's going to restrict the water flow. You should not mess with pool chemistry or physics, but include this as seperate system attached to the pool though something like waterfall or something else that circulates.

What kind of pump would you recommend dedicated to this?

When I first saw this post I thought it was a cool product, but the more I read comments and think about it, the more I am 99% sure this product is a gimmick.

I've owned two sets of these... the first set was destroyed because of ignorance. I forgot to blow the water out of it at the end of the season and the water froze up during the winter and caused it to accumulate a bunch of holes when I went to use it the following year. My second set survived the winter because I pumped RV anti-freeze into it. My buddy has a similar set, if not the same, and he just drained it by blowing air into it and it also survived the winter. Both our units are up and running with no issues. I use a 12v 3L pump [amazon.com]from amazon to circulate the water. FYI, I have my set on my metal shed and he has his on the lower roof of his house… this is because the roof is warmer than putting it on the ground.

What are you using as a hose for the run up to the roof?

Curious, it's black, so it should absorb most of the heat from the visible light waves (49% of solar heat), but what about the material itself, how good is it at absorbing the 51% of the solar heat from the infrared waves?

Depending on the material, maybe just run it through a black HDPE or poly hose.

Not sure where you will find a pump that costs $100, especially not one with a solar heater attached.

That is very true. I think a small pool could deal with a single solar heater without much problem for the pump (assuming the pump was sized properly) however additional sets would be pushing it. Now, how much heat gain are you going to see real world from just 40' of surface area?

That would be a ideal but could also double your power usage running two pumps (depending on size), need to run extra power for the second pump, additional plumbing, etc.

BTW, you have to mess with the "chemistry" if you own a pool. Part of the ownership process. Now this set of black tubes doesn't do that though....

In my opinion these things look good, in theory, but I have never seen someone keep these Amazon / Walmart variety solar heaters installed for more than one season.

Wonder how fast this would heat up a stock tank.

I'm wonder how much water it contains and it be used to hack a backup hot sbower?
