At these prices, I'd give it a shot and see if the issues are tolerable. But you could probably wait and see if the DV/HDR10 issues are fixed/made better, and this price will probably be back a few more times over the next few months. And like others have said, keep an eye on the thread over at AVS!
2) Ignoring #1, you could buy a Roku stick for like $25 and be right back to using that if needed. The platform the TV is running on is rarely a reason to buy it or not, especially not at the high end.

QM8 blacks we're definitely not inky. Darker scenes were night and day difference in favor of OLED.
Watch the comparison. They were much more lenient to the QM8 but to me OLED looked much better. Hoped all those dimming zones would help but not enough.
One caveat is this video is obviously viewed on a monitor, in person my opinion could change.

I highly question the need for 1000nit brightness, unless you're watching purely outdoors (1000 nits is how bright it gets in a lot of cell phones to get readability in direct sunlight).

Reviewers need to stop chasing numbers, because after a certain point it becomes pointless. If next year they come out with 2000 nit, 3000 nit TVs, are those objectively better than the 1000 nit TV just because it can go higher? I think we've reached a ceiling with non-self-illuminating LCD TVs (anything not OLED and mini-LED) and the best sets can no longer outdo their previous incarnations, but companies either chase pointless features

The only OLED I've owned was a B7, so I wouldn't be able to tell you for certain, so I'm sorry about that. This is just my opinion, but once you've gone OLED, it's hard to use anything else.
Go to the AVS Forum thread on this TV, start on page 23, scroll about half way down, and you'll see the discussion start about the issues.
I'm honestly tempted to grab a C2 and compare the two. It's not a QD, but Best Buy only has open boxes for the 65" S95B, and I'm not paying the high prices for the S95C lol
This is my first Mini LED and TCL tv.
That video from Stop The Fomo will tell you just how amazing the QM8 really is.
The Q7 is on par with the Sony X90 series for only $650 on Amazon and it comes with way more dimming zones - over 200 compared to 54. TCL is clearly going for marketshare with these prices as they are well below competitors of the same performance tier.

U8H is a 2022 TV, QM8 is a 2023 TV. Hisense U8K is coming out in the next 2 months & will probably be a better sparring partner for QM8 (although early indications are that QM8 has it beat when it comes to specs, outside of QM8 not having ATSC 3.0 tuner).
Best comparison between U8H & QM8 you can probably get at this early stage is the Stop the FOMO video people are talking about, which I'll link here
