I've had cheap smokers. I've had expensive smokers. And honestly, they will all last you as long as you want if it's garage kept. I couldn't tell you the difference between what came off a Pit Boss or a Recteq if the same pellets were used. Fan boys are gonna fan boy. They'll poop on Traeger even though that company has the best app features out of any of them. Or they'll tell you Camp Chef is shit value compared to Recteq (it's not). Or Grilla Grills uses inferior stainless to Recteq, when in reality they both probably came off the same assembly line in Shanghai. Iif you are keeping it outside 9 months out of the year, I would highly suggest to pay up. But for normal joe-shmo that pulls it out of a garage or keeps it under a pavilion and uses it once or twice a week, you can get away with any of them really - it just comes down to what features you want.

Probably more sturdy, but unless I'm mistaken recteq still hasn't incorporated an easy ash clean out. It's not a dealbreaker for everyone, but it was for me. I had a Pit Boss and hated cleaning that ash pot, knowing others like Camp Chef made it simple to remove and dump without removing the grates.

This would be my only complaint. I hate having to remove everything and suck all the ash out every few cooks.

The new 380x has an ash dump and clean out drawer.

With that said, I love my RT-1250 and is way more sturdy and built far better than the Traeger and PitBoss ones I see at the home improvement stores.
