Major drawback from the reviews:
Lavazza provides for you to make milk drinks with its frother and proprietary mug, but though they sell replacements you can't use some other vessel, which is weird and inconvenient. This means that you can only make milk drinks for one person at a time, and they have to drink them from the provided pitcher/mug, nothing else. That is weird.
It is certainly much more convenient for one person or for more people if you have additional mugs (called "vessels" Lavazza part # 18400210).

However, while waiting for more vessels to come in stock you could certainly pour your milk beverage into another cup and use the vessel right off for another drink.

If you have enough vessels, or only make one drink at a time, it is not weird at all, it is much more convenient to have the machine do all of the foaming/heating/mixing/brewing by just hitting a button.

How portable is this? I have an electric mokapot and an Aeropress to use when traveling, but if I can restrict the use of capsules to a minimum, I could potentially get espresso/latte instead.

Bonus question, is this real espresso?

I don't know much about coffee. Can you use a half-and-half milk instead? What about a creamer or is that a totally different thing? 😅

Pod costs for this system can be had for less than half of Nespresso cups - usually between .30 - .40 per pod.
I've got an old Nespresso I'm looking to replace. When I look online for lavazza espresso pods, it looks to be .50 to .60 per pod. Am I looking at the right ones (expert and blue line)? Or is there off-brand ones that are good?

edit: okay I see a sale price someone posted.

Yeah, I bought one of these with the bonus vessel and frother/steamer, thinking I would need it, but used that extra one exactly three times before putting it away. I don't even know where it is in my house.

You only need two of the vessels/mugs/ whatever if you're making more than one MILK based drink at a time AND don't want to xfer the drink to another mug (which I totally get).

Since I make two milk-based espresso drinks every morning, I just found it easier and faster (and frankly better) to use one of my existing standalone milk frothers (Breville or very old Capresso (Jura).

The Dolce IMO is kind of the bottom rung in terms of output. I do buy them, because they are always cheap, and we go through a crap ton of pods with 4 coffee drinkers in my house.

But I tend to use those cheaper 'Blue' series pods in milk-based drinks and for the teens Big Grin.

If you're new to this system, you should at least try the Expert pods once just so you experience the true potential of the system. They have a sampler box of Expert pods (very recently on sale for $12…it was also a FP deal IIRC. I also save my Expert pods when I just want a shot or double shot (no milk). The difference in taste is noticeable IMO.

The problem is milk beverage like latte, cappuccino etc is not easily transferred to another cup due to the foam etc of beverage made in original cup.

even if you find dont get it .. not worth the hassle and also it may damage the machine in long term .. i bought one on ebay before and it is sitting in my shelf after couple of uses .. much convenient with the normal pods and stock when there is a sale on it ..

i have this and its awesome! however, they only provide you with one cup and it's out of stock to get replacements. I have searched for many hours to find a cup with a similar size that will fit the machine. Total shot in the dark here, but-- has anyone found a cup that fits?
The frother / cup is Now available at https://italybestcoffee.com/produ...zza-vessel
