The Ethernet port of RE220 can easily turn your wired Internet connection into a wireless access point.

This is very helpful to provide wifi to static devices in that area (like a TV, game console, smart switches). It's not as convenient for devices that move with you around the house (like your phone). These moving devices may stay connected to this access point after you've left the area instead of automatically connecting back to your router for example. So you'll be sitting up at the dining room table waiting for videos to load when it's really just still connected to the basement access point so you're too far away to get real bandwidth but not far enough for your derpy phone to connect back to your router.... You get the idea.
Of course, the solution is a mesh system. The mesh system uses your existing wifi name and password and the system bounces your device to an appropriate access point automatically. It looks like this device supports TP-Link's OneMesh system, but I don't have a TP-Link router so I couldn't test this.

My modem and router is upstairs. On my laptop down by my TV, I am getting 21 down from the router, and with the extender next to me, I am getting 18 down.
It is pitiful. I don't want to run a 100' ehternet cable outside, down the house, in the window kind of stuff.
At my desktop, hardwired, I am getting 500 down on my 1 G contract.
