90 watts is adequate for 99% of home theaters. People greatly exaggerate the amount of power necessary.

Ahhh...i see what you did there. LOL! Nah, my wife is a keeper. She put up with me for 20 years, plus there's a "no return" policy...so ....yeah. No, the other thing is getting an XBOX Series X. Thus the need for the receiver.
Or return for 50% of net worth policy 😆

Better deal than the Costco one, but if you are not happy with it for some reason you pay the return shipping on this, where as costco takes anything back free of charge.

I did my due diligence (I fasted & prayed for a whole 15 seconds), checked Amazon (where the unit is priced at ~$765; prayer answered!), headed to Adorama and placed my order. The "Beast" (as 1 Amazon reviewer breathlessly described it) is due to arrive at my humble abode this coming Tuesday.

Many thanks iconian for alerting us about this deal. Thanks, also, to those of you who provided links to sites with additional very helpful info for our perusal. You and those others who daily share their wisdom & knowledge regarding Slickdeals items that at times look tempting but the details of which confound the average, ummm, Irishman, you all make Slickdeals informative, enjoyable and infused with a feeling of camaraderie.

By way of a deep feeling of gratitude, permit me to share my rendition of a famous Irish wish:

May the wind always be at your back; and may the wind at your back always be your own!

Cheers everyone!!!

I found Zone 2 on my Onkyo nearly useless because it DOES NOT downmix a digital signal to those outputs! A simple D/A converter was left out of an enthusiast AVR I am so pissed. I got everything wired and found it that i can't even do it. I'd rather have L/R preouts than a useless Zone 2. Also, it you use ATMOS you lose Zone two and have to go into menus to disable it, THEN Zone 2 works again. This should be automatic when you select Zone 2. All I wanted to do was to be able to hear the game in the bathroom but nope.
But you're talking about Onkyo and this is Denon. Hopefully they do up zone 2/b differently.

Currently I have a Yamaha 7850 will play 5.2.1 and then through the zone b pre outputs and a second amp plays the LR in the kitchen speakers. It's nice it somehow plays atmos and stereo tracks at once.

Anyways this purchase is for a different TV with 5 speakers so but I do hope to zone b the patio speakers off it. Hopefully denons app is better than yamahas

How is the room eq/compensation? I've only ever had Onkyo receivers and it varies greatly model by model within their lineup

Can you please list few of the differences other than additional 15w/speaker and one additional HDMI/eArc out? No info online
S970h also has 2 year warranty vs S760h has 1 year warranty.

adorama is not in same league as Best Buy, no reason for them to stoop down to price match.
Funny how times have changed!
Back in the day BB was thought of in the same way!

I'm confused on this.

The spec says this comes with Audessey MultiEQ, but under the Key Technologies section on the website it talks about "harnessing the power of MultiEQ XT32", and in the info sheet pdf, it says MultiEQ XT32 "software" comes with this receiver.

Is it saying that XT32 is available via the audessey software via Windows OS?

Onkyo doesn't either. Very annoying that a basic feature is left out of nearly every AVR now.
I bought an Onkyo last year from Costco because it does have line level outputs, but not for main channels, just zone 2, which is what I needed to power my outdoor speaker amps.

I was using a cheap optical to analog DAC on my HK, but that receiver got to be very erratic.

They only match b&m retailers
I just went to Best Buy online and they price-matched it. Actually what they did was price match it at $499 and then gave me a $100 back. Something in their system maybe.

Anybody see 9.2 AVRs getting down to $500-600 this summer? Got a return eligible S760h and would be all over this, but don't wanna miss out on two more channels. Not paying double for those two channels though 🤣
