90 watts is adequate for 99% of home theaters. People greatly exaggerate the amount of power necessary.

For anyone interested I got BB to price match. I did it over the chat on their website. They asked me who would they would be price matching and to send the link. I did and that's all it took. He adjusted the price himself AFTER I purchased it on my card.

Might be because I'm in NY but I dunno. Might as well give it a shot as it was a seamless process for me.
Glad it worked out for you. They wouldn't match for me. They checked my zip code and said there wasn't a physical Adorama within 15 miles of me

Of course they used to. I am still using denon 2808ci which has 7.1 preouts. Needs upgrade because it does not support DD+...
The 2080ci was before they established the 1xxx, 2xxx, 3xxx and 4xxx nomenclature. They are not apples and apples comparisons. The first 2xxx series didnt come out until 2013 or 2014. I was refering to that.

The 2808ci was closer to the 3xxx series in terms of lineup if anything due to it having MultiEq XT which was the highest version of Audyssey at the time.

Price match BB wouldn't work. I just purchased from Adorama. Have a Yamaha V781 with the dreaded audio won't come on until DSP chip heats up issue. Almost 7 years old. Not worth repairing I guess.

Am I going to like this Denon better?

That's a bunch of BS from BB. I got them to match an item a couple of weeks ago. I don't live in that state. Unfortunately, it's not the one I want. It's ready for pickup at BB. I'm trying to stall until Yamaha A4A deal comes back. Doesn't look like it.

Any particular reason buying from Best Buy is better than adorama?

Just local and don't have to pay return shipping if you don't like it.

How did you give the best buy representative the link to show the price at 399? Everytime I send them a link they see $799
I used the 'chat' feature on the best buy website

Ha same here. Just bought it yesterday.

They had the same $500 issue. This guy had me buy it for $800 for in store pick-up and they will be refunding the $400+tax. Just picked it up and added a note to my calendar for Wednesday to make sure refund was processed.

I did look at the Yamaha V6A. I like how they have zone 2 preouts. And 9ch speaker connections but only 7 can be active at once. A lot more flexibility. Wish their HDMI wasn't gimped.
I made sure to have the ticket number for Best Buy and simply gave that to the chat rep when i got home from the store. They issued the difference right then.l

This IS a great deal though. I've been through recent Onkyo and Sony AVR's to test them out, and I'm happiest with the 2019 Denon I have (x4500) with the higher end Audyssey. If the Audyssey in this AVR works half as well (I have not tried it, only the XT32 version) then it really makes it a phenomenal deal. The Onkyo I tried (7100) was like a featherweight by comparison and sounded so weak, even with the much touted Dirac Live being implemented (and I did calibrate my system with it, and it still sounded terrible).
Did you calibrate with a UMIK-1 mic and a laptop? The puck mic that comes with the 7100 won't get the job done well.

Excellent price, i just bought a refurbed S970H (now going to return) from Denon with coupon code it was still considerably more than this $399.
I tried to get bestbuy online to pricematch but they wouldn't. Their loss.
After i bought one the price jumped back to $799
Thanks OP! Peace

I'm in upstate NY (150 miles from Adorama) and I was denied in-person and via chat based on being more than 25 miles away from Adorama. Spent 30 minutes with 2 or 3 different level people via chat. I tried explaining that they were a big electronics store that ships worldwide like Amazon, but they weren't having it.
Fine. I ordered from Adorama.

Thanks, OP!
