Only catch is that car's availability. I had booked this car back in January still my order is not accepted by GM and I was informed by dealer that it might take additional 3-6 months more so total waiting time is around 8-12 months
If your order still hasn't been accepted after months of waiting you should really find another higher volume dealer and place an order there. They'll get a bigger allocation and you'll have much better odds of actually getting the car in a reasonable time. The way things are going, you might not get one at all if you wait it out. The factory will simply stop accepting new orders. For reference, I ordered an EUV back in October (delivered January) from a high volume dealer and the order was accepted by GM the SAME DAY.

Chevy makes the most reliable EV and im sure we all know that
They actually do. I've had my 2020 bolt for three years now and apart from the battery recall (which is a LG issue) the car has been without a single issue. It's way more reliable than Toyota/Suburu's EV.

While a lot of dealers are scummy and charge insane markups, for those who really want a Bolt, there are plenty of dealers out that there don't charge a markup and sell at MSRP. You'll have an easier time finding one at MSRP if you place a factory order (through a dealer) or snagging an in transit one.

So my tax total on line 24 is 5000… does that mean I qualify for a 5k rebate?
Yes, unless you have other credits, like child tax credit, etc.

I ran a quote with my insurer and it was only $5 a month more than my 10 year old Toyota Prius.
Most people assume that it costs a lot more to insure EVs, but you actually get discounts for all the safety features

The dealership in Reno will charge the appropriate tax for your residence in CA.
Plus Washoe County, Nevada has a very high sales tax rate to begin with. Oregon has the zero sales tax.

Hate when people include tax credits into price that not everyone qualifies for without all the info, it's a little misleading in these ev/Tesla threads. This requires a tax liability of $7500 or more that you get after you file and is not point of sale. Also max income of $150-300k for single/married filers to qualify. Also there is nothing new here, this is MSRP, info on tax credit, and the charger install was always included with bolt purchase.
What also should be calculated and posted is the roi on these vs a gas sedan, especially for a 10 year and 20 year ownership length.

...

For example, for me, when I did the math a few years ago with a $35k bolt vs $18k Versa, I'd have to drive the Versa 126k to 250k miles (depending on millage, worse to best average) BEFORE I'd even exceed $35k (Versa + gas).

Exceed 10 years or so, and every ev is faced with the HORRIBLE $5-20k battery replacement cost.

So for long term owners like me (17 years on my current car), EV cars make utterly no sense at all roi wise (even after calculating for other repairs). I'd literally be tossing cash out the open window year in, year out.

...

That said, if America simply imported the slew of dirt-cheap EVs from China (https://www.wired.com/story/revie...g-mini-ev/), or even low priced from Japan (https://insideevs.com/news/587101...ars-japan/), I'd go for those.

What's the average insurance premium for these?
Depends on the individual.
A few minutes on the phone with your current can get you a quote fast.

...

That said, many ev cars after even "minor to moderate" crashes can result in a total loss write off due to the expense of parts and repairs on ev vehicles. (Ie. How many sensors and cameras are destroyed in a side swipe alone?)

A total loss will get factored into your future rates.

This is obviously not the case in situations where the other party is at fault and you're filing against THEIR insurance.

Do insurance rates go up after a no-fault accident?
Typically, no, insurance rates won't increase following a no-fault accident. The insurance company of the at-fault driver is responsible for all expenses, from vehicle repairs to medical costs. As long as an insurer does not have to pay out any money, it won't increase the policy rate.

But sure, if you wreck your own car that increases your insurance rates- as it should.

Myself included.

Wife got the Yellow GR 3.0 Premium Supra MSRP and is happy as heck.
