Good luck finding a Hyundai dealership that isn't marking up 7.5k to negate the credit. Tried to buy one last year and they marked up anywhere from 2k minimum to 8k with add-ons.

Hyundai actually found the issue, it was an app that sent a bunch of information/stayed connected when the car is off. Teslas have a worse issue which is phantom drain, since the car stays connected for connectivity/app usage it drains the main drive battery. Ends up making the car horribly inefficient. People come back to their cars with way less drivable range.

You cannot buyout Tesla leases, not that you would want to after you experience the shoddy workmanship of those things.

Call around the country. Don't limit your search to only CA. Also they won't advertise a low price, call and show you're serious and talk out a deal, make sure they give all the breakdowns of MSRP, add-ons, cap cost reduction, etc.
Sounds like a lot of work. Get a Tesla instead.

...I'm just salty how aggravatingly complex this car buying process is courtesy of dealerships. Can't wait for every manufacturer to replicate whatever Tesla has done in this space.

Was looking for a CT5-V Blackwing last week. Dealer still started with 20k on top of MSRP.
I left, knowing they had two sitting on the lot.
They called me next day and offered MSRP Big Grin
It's so dumb.
Yeah, the only reason the dealers exist is to suck as much money from customers as they can. Going to a dealer is like going to the front lines of a psychological war. Haha.

Still doesn't change the manufacture's listed residual value. You or a 3rd party is now engaging in a purchase transaction with the dealership. Not a lease.
Talk about a goal post move!
Exactly! A cash transaction. You're still leasing and getting the additional rebate for paying cash. How is that not a win?

I was wondering what the Korean makers were going to do with softening sales and no US Tax credits.

Be careful with Ioniq 5's. Pretty much every single one is susceptible to ICCU failure, which will ground your car for weeks. It takes weeks to get the new one shipped from Korea. In the meantime, you'll be stuck with a brick until the issue is fixed.

On top of that, they gave 7500$ lease credit, but decreased RV and increased money factor, so monthly payment is the same, plus mark up so you end up with payment even higher than with out this incentive

Tesla are the worst quality built cars and their services are even worse. Good luck with your steering wheel falling off while driving
I agree, but the point I was trying to make is that dealers totally ruin the experience when it comes to shopping for other brands of cars. To the point where some may tolerate the shoddy build quality over having to pay thousands over MSRP and going through a super stressful experience.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the "new" Elon Musk, but F these slimy dealers. F each one of them. I'd rather give my money to Tesla than deal with these bottom dwellers. Car manufacturers need to end this bs system, otherwise they will just keep shooting themselves in the foot on their way to becoming obsolete.
Exactly. These dealer mark ups are a turn off and I would rather give my business to Tesla if I was in the market for an EV. From what I read in an article on Electrek, sales of EVs in 2024, the EV credit will be taken off the sale price so no need to wait til tax filing.

People love to say this, and while it is a well known potential issue, it affects only a small handful of GMP platform cars, most of us are driving our Ioniq 5/EV6/GV60 with no issues for over a year. Those that get burned yell the loudest.

But yes, if someone gets a lemon it could be a multi month wait. That being said, Kia will cover your monthly payments if you open a case with corporate.

Oh please, car dealers ain't going nowhere.
Well, they are not, but every Tesla you see out on the road is one less sale the dealers made, so at some point the car manufacturers and the dealers will have to wisen up and change the way they treat customers or continue bleeding them to brands like Tesla. Most people would say that going to a car dealer is as bad or worse as going to a dentist, and that is just not a good business model when alternatives exist. The dealers use their political lobbying to prevent competition as much as they can, but the tide will eventually overcome that.

It's not complicated at all. If you want a good deal on something, you shop around for it. You can get discounts and pin dealerships against each other to see who can offer more $ off. Society getting lazy these days.

So, $332/ Month for 36-Months with $5,008 Due at Signing.
So, it is $16,960 for three years.
Any other hidden cost or surprise cost ?
Plus sales tax (that's around $1,300 at 7.75%)
Plus Registration (that is around $465 in CA)
Plus Doc fee +85
Plus dispo fee at the lease end is $400.

With a lease you can tell them 0 drive-off. The point of the post is to initiate a lease to get the 7500 off immediately. The payments don't really matter because you will buy-out immediately with a loan or in cash afterwards. Slickdeals changed my original post to show the lease deal but the deal is actually to purchase through the lease loophole to obtain the full EV credit.

Its Slickdeals man, they literally could have been paid to promote this, or any other deal.
If you want a real lease deal, then leasehacker would be the place to go.

That said I dont think this is a bad deal (@ the 332 a month price), it just not ideal to put $5k down on a lease upfront.

Ive seen AWD EV6 leases for $600 a month $1k down. The AWD totally transforms these e-GMP platform cars, there is a big power and acceleration difference between the RWD and AWD.
